Does that not award him the ability to understand that voter fraud isn't a serious national issue?

Even if you believe that (which I don't)- neither is the theft of library books but you need an ID and library card to get one. Do you honestly believe that the left would spend a fortune in challenging voter registration laws if it was irrelevant?

Lemmee see.....millions of illegal immigrants and refugees....dems promise them govt benefits......id registration laws could keep them from voting....hmmmm. If only I had any capacity for critical thinking I'm sure I could come up with a connection.

Don't buy everything John Stewart tells you.

What you're talking about are two very separate issues. Voter fraud contributes almost nothing on a national scale. It doesn't move the needle in a presidential election one way or the other.

Now if you want to talk long term plans of democrats enfranchising mass amounts of demographics through amnesty, immigration, etc... then I'm with you. That's 100% a political ploy to develop a quick mass of voters immediately. But that doesn't really have to do with a lot of the voter fraud instances that are regularly discussed.

The Truth About Voter Fraudby Justin Levitt of Loyola Law School. Levitt performed a wide-ranging analysis of alleged incidents of voter fraud across the U.S. "Usually, only a tiny portion of the claimed illegality is substantiated — and most of the remainder is either nothing more than speculation or has been conclusively debunked."

The Politics of Voter Fraud by Lorraine Minnite of Columbia University. Minnite concludes that voter fraud is exceedingly rare, and that the few allegations in the record usually turn out to be something other than voter fraud: "a review of news stories over a recent two year period found that reports of voter fraud were most often limited to local races and individual acts and fell into three categories: unsubstantiated or false claims by the loser of a close race, mischief and administrative or voter error."

Fraudulent Votes, Voter Identification, and the 2012 US General Electionby John Ahlquist and Kenneth R. Mayer of the University of Wisconsin, and Simon Jackman of Stanford. The authors conducted a survey experiment "to measure the prevalence of two speci?c types of voter fraud: repeat/fraudulent ballot casting and vote buying." Their conclusion: "The notion that voter impersonation is a widespread behavior is totally contradicted by these data."

Voter ID Lawsby Minnite again. "In 95 percent of so-called 'cemetery voting' alleged in the 2010 midterm election in South Carolina, human error accounts for nearly all of what the state's highest law enforcement official had informed the U.S. Department of Justice was fraud."

They just do not vote like they used to. By a UGA professor. by M.V. Hood III of the University of Georgia and William Gillespie of Kennesaw State University. "After examining approximately 2.1 million votes cast during the 2006 general election in Georgia, we find no evidence that election fraud was committed under the auspices of deceased registrants."

Side note: I've taken a class with Hood and he's a good ole Texan, we watched a cool movie about W. Bush's first campaign in his class. Not your typical left wing pols professor.

Government Investigations

2 Year Investigation by Iowa's Republican Secretary of State found evidence of 117 possible fraudulent votes and led to just six - six! - criminal convictions.

BadgerHerald.comIn 2011 a Wisconsin task force found sufficient evidence to charge 20 people with fraudulent voting in the 2008 elections. Most of these were felons who were ineligible to vote.

A lot of data Kansas' secretary of state examined 84 million votes cast in 22 states to look for duplicate registrants. In the end 14 cases were referred for prosecution, representing 0.00000017 percent of the votes cast.

A 10-year 'death audit' in North Carolina turned up a grand total of 50 instances in which a vote may have been attributed to a deceased person, most likely due to errors made by precinct workers.

Hood was one of the hardest classes I took. Maybe it was his style and dryness, Idk. I thought Bullock's class was much easier than Hood's.

That was definitely my major complaint about him, it was truly amazing the lack of emotion or enthusiasm he showed. Sometimes he would try to tell a joke and it would bomb, not because it wasn't funny but rather the whole class was asleep. I was interested enough in the material that I was able to come out with an A-, but he's definitely the most boring professor I've had, much preferred Madonna in the Pols department.

Hillary will win...cause this country is fricking retarded and has lost itself...and the truth hurts...I down voted...even though I will pull the lever for Trump...

GJ is a snake in the grass...

and Hillary is literally a criminal...I'm military/contractor...
I can not ever allow myself to vote for someone who was responsible for the lack of security for the Ambassador in Benghazi and those that tried to protect him....she was engineering weapons deals to support the "rebels" in Syria...what we now know as ISIS...and got caught with her pants down...that's why her and the administration tried their best to cover up that whole mess cause the CIA wasn't supposed to be there meddling.....and that is just reason #787 why I can't stand her or her stupid husband....frick that traitor bitch...

but the sheeple love her...

You're talking so far out of your arse it's ridiculous. First off, votes are counted by precincts, not districts. Within a Republican-leaning congressional district you could have precincts which are wholly democratic voters, especially with how bad gerrymandering is these days. Many of these precincts with 100% votes for Obama had very low turnout.....a black neighborhood had 18 people turn out to vote and they all voted for Obama instead of Romney. To you, that's fraud just because this precinct was gerrymandered into a Republican-leaning district?!?!

Also, if you're going to source stories about voting fraud, how about not using World Net fricking Daily as a source. Jesus. There have been several professional studies looking into fraud and each came to the same conclusion....there's practically zero.

Did you ever have Marietta? I took an elections class with him and he was awesome. Kinda guy that you'd see over at Walker's Pub 20 minutes after class.

Yeah, people blow my mind when they believe these random blogs written from basements across America. That being said, he also cited some credible sources. Voter fraud is a legit issue, but so is gerrymandering. Dems excel at the former, Repubs excel at the latter. It's all part of the chess match.

I took that in a summer session but it wasn't taught by Dougherty I don't think.

Right, because a guy testifying in front of his state legislature about coding hacks for voting machine rigging, and then showing us on said video exactly how it worked, is me talking out my arse.

Or the candidate for Congress who also ON VIDEO tested out the voting machines, and when she selected her name on every machine, it still input a vote for her opponent.

And, you give some anecdotal BS about 18 people turning out to vote in one district, but you completely miss the part of the report that said 90% of registered voters actually voted.

In other words, your "example" is shite.

And most of the information in these articles is public record. You can go check the numbers yourself as each state has it's own voting records site just like the one I posted showing Cuyahoga County in Ohio.

How about you stop being disingenuous by attempting to discredit a dozen articles by nit-picking who wrote one of them.

No one is saying voter fraud doesn't exist. It does. It's just not as big of a deal as you think it is. As has our man from Americus has already shown through multiple scholarly articles, journals, and government investigations.

These articles seem to be centering on substantiation by accounting for convictions and abstract cases of blatant fraud. It also doesn't actually contradict any of the instances of things that I posted about.

Our government is drowning in corruption in damn near everything that it touches, but for some reason folks like you seem to think the election process is near flawless and run by some incorruptible angelic process that remains untainted.

HBO creates a documentary showing video evidence of mass voter fraud, and you guys just stick your head in the sand and act like it doesn't exist.

A man shows video and document evidence of voting machine rigging and you toss out some articles from college academics doing some "studies", as if there's ZERO chance of any bias there. *eyes rolling big time*

A Congressional candidate shows us with indisputable video proof that machines in a certain district had been tampered with and were counting her opponent no matter what vote was placed, and you're like, "NUH UH, NOTHIN TO SEE HERE!"

The government is beyond corrupt in everything else, but the voting process is as pure as 72 Islamic virgins.

So naive it's just sad.

Not in the popular vote - but small pockets in swing states can definitely swing elections because of how the electoral college works. You effect one state and that could be enough.

Also, this is a straw man argument anyway. The fact is that proof of ID should be required as it is for almost everything else. Whether or not it isn't a major issue is irrelevant.

Again - if it's so irrelevant why is the DNC up in arms and litigating this issue?
