LSU simply is not Bama in basically every aspect.
Saban benifitted from Bama and vice versa.

If a position coach (Shula) can win 10 games including a Cotton Bowl during cripling sanctions, anyone can.

Saban is a great coach.

A great coach at Alabama = 4 National Championships, 4 SEC Championships

A great coach at LSU = 1 National Championship, 2 SEC Championships

Yes, he has been at Bama longer. But he left LSU. No coach would voluntarily leave a great program like Alabama sans Francione escaping sanctions.
