We needed to take another DT and this was the thinnest DL class in recent memory. After Solomon, there wasn't much else we had a shot with that we weren't already on.

I know you're kidding, but for anyone thinking this way, he's been a bit underrecruited. Not a big camper. Very *quick* athlete (per the 40yd dash story if you haven't seen it already here.) If you watch his footage, tells a similar tale as his first step is good enough to help cause some disruption. Still will be a project in all likelihood, but given the available talent at DT that we have any shot at, this is great, otherwise it could have been a big whiff there. I can't envision a year where we are not taking at least one DT, so would rather hit with this guy than fall further down the boards for a plan C/D guy.

Doubt any SC fan actually believes that. We actually needed him. Wyatt was under-recruited and likely under-ranked. Good get for UGA, sucks SC couldn't hold on to him but Muschamp has a good eye for defense, he'll get his. And when he does, hordes of offers will flow to said recruit like it usually does when Muschamp offers a three star recruit.

believe vs. publicly say are 2 drastically different things, particularly around these parts. I agree with you, under on both ends, but as you mentioned wouldn't particularly worry about Boom's defensive recruiting. Pretty clear that he has a good eye for talent there, so he'll find some additional diamonds, it's just a matter of hanging on to it for sure, which will be a little tougher at SC than UF.Posted on 8/8/16 at 3:26 pm to fibonaccisquared
I agree with DG. Any carolina fan that keeps up with recruiting knows we didn't back off. He was the one I was most worried about flipping. Underrated imo.

I hope UGA turns the heat back up on Jamyest Williams and keeps him away from Muschamp, 5'8 or not the young man is a player.

Probably a tough hit for Scar right now but Muschamp and McClendon will get them players soon enough.

The talent in 2018 is pretty good.

Xavier Thomas was voted #1 overall by espn a few weeks back. He won best DL at the opening this year as well iirc.
