If Minnesota was undefeated and the others weren't then why is this even an issue?

Princeton was undefeated in 1950 and claims the national championship. OU, UK and the others had at least 1 loss.

Because some publication (Ladies Home Journal, or some shite) back in 1941 gave Alabama an award as the best team in college football.

It doesn't make any sense to ask Alabama why they were GIVEN the award, but you have to ask them why they acknowledge receiving it.
