Couldn't you say the same thing about Miles?
More so. While SOS only has one natty, he took every college program where he ever coached to their highest achievements on the football field.

Actually, it validates my point. The rest of the SEC was down, he recruited and gave scholarships out to anybody and everybody that would listen to him even though he knew 90% of them would never play a down, he was one of the few coaches at the time that took it that seriously. Stop being such a god damn homer and get his old crusty dick out of your mouth. He wasn't that great. Deal with it.
This and your other remarks are beyond ignorant. Coach Bryant never coached in the SEC without scholarship limitations. Even when he was at Kentucky the SEC had the "140 Rule". Your remarks remain ignorant with or without a rule because it is the same for all coaches with or without a rule. The playing field is always level.
But just STFU about unlimited scholarships because that is a goddamn lie and by now you must know it's a goddamn lie.
"Bobby Dodd insisted there was no other reason he left the SEC, other than the 140 Rule. The 140 Rule stated a college program could only have 140 football and basketball players on scholarship at any one time. The teams were allowed to sign up to 45 players a year, but could not exceed the 140 Rule."

Who was the 1971 SEC Champion and why?

Alabama. They were the only team in the SEC that went unbeaten. What am I missing? Did you mean 1972?

SEC scheduling until '78 or so was not succinct. You could make a case that in some form or fashion Alabama and Auburn could have been co-champs. LSU had a somewhat similar--not exact--issue in 1969.
Tennessee won the SEC with a 5-1 mark. LSU was 4-1. They each lost one game, to Ole Miss. LSU lost a squeaker, 26-23. Tennessee was throttled, 38-0.Through the 1968 season there were "appointed" SEC games against non-conference teams to ensure each team played at least 6 sec games. That ended in '69.
In 1970 the NCAA allowed for each team to play 11 games --not including a trip to Hawaii. Auburn didn't take advantage of this until 1973. Had Auburn talked Vandy or Kentucky into a game in 1972, they would have been co-champs with Alabama.

Shug Jordan won 1 SEC title in 25 years and averaged going 7-3
I don't think he's really overrated though because most people don't rank him that high. He's revered by Auburn people because he was a great man and a great American back when those things still mattered and did a lot more things than just football.

Pat Dye was not overrated at all.
You're right about that. Only a moron would think this. He won 3 SEC titles in less than a decade, basically won a national title in 83 and was one play away from playing for another one in 88 and built the 93-94 teams.

Les Miles. People praise him for averaging 10 wins a year. Which in a 15 game league now is nothing.

4 pages in and no mention of Mark Richt? Classy guy, but he's had UGA championship worthy several times, and fell flat. In 15 seasons, his biggest bowl win was over an eventual 5-loss FSU in the Sugar Bowl. In 2007, one poll had them finishing #2. UGA was the only SEC champion in the BCS era to not win a national title
How can richt be considered an overrated legend when he's not even considered a legend and fired from his job

Miles is on middle ground. Half the fans want him gone

Vince Dooley without question.
Vince Dooley owes 95% of his success to Erk Russell and Herschel Walker.

Hugh Freeze . When you buy the best players that money can buy and couldn't produce; what do you do? Just leave it with Beaver.

Spurrier.
He's a legend yet he only won one title with all the talent he had amassed over the years?
Steve Spurrier is the most overrated coach in the history of college football.
Sans Bama, how many SEC coaches ever, while coaching in the SEC, have had more than 1 NC? Spurrier is a legit SEC coaching legend.
Ok I looked it up. Bama coaches aside, only 1 coach has more than 1 NC while coaching an SEC school, and that is Urban who had 2 at Florida.

Hmm. Vandy beat UT Chattanooga worse than Auburn did that year.
