What is the latest about who will contend and start at QB for Florida? Type of offense? Pro? HUNH? Spread-play action? Spread-run heavy? Move the pile? Ball control? Throw it 50 times? Thanks.

I'd guess Pro Style Spread Mix with more formations than almost any system in the country but not a huge number of plays-- similar to what McElwain ran at CSU-- the one real coaching (not recruiting) knock Mac last season was that he didn't adapt his offense at all after losing Grier, despite Treon being a horrible dropback passer and a serviceable spread option guy, so I doubt he will now.
QB will almost certainly be Luke Del Rio, how good he is anyone's guess, I'd think he will probably look a lot like another Mac QB- AJ McCarron- middling talent, can lose a game if its put too heavily on him but smart and capable of surprising and can hit the open man.
Basically if the offense gives Del Rio the looks it gave Treon and Grier we'll win 9-10, if on the other hand Del Rio has to throw people open we win 6-7.

Del Rio looked good in the spring game, and Trask seemed way ahead of Franks in the freshman battle.

4 wins max imo.
We're doomed.

Trask might have the best pure arm talent of UFs QBs.

Franks is a project. Even we can admit that.
Trask looks the part for sure. I'm hopeful he develops nicely.
If not, we have our "QB of the future" committed already. Not that that means much at this point.

From watching Franks spring game I think he has all the talent just has some technical work to do. You might see him struggle as he learns and changes his mechanics but in the end he will be one hell of a QB in the SEC just might take a year or two.

Franks needs to completely re-learn his throwing motion IMO.
He's a GREAT athlete with great size and arm strength, but his throwing mechanics are garbage and it really hurts his accuracy.
Mac is a good QB coach though so I'm sure in a few years Franks will be a good QB for UF.
ETA:
One of those guys with a really high ceiling and a really low floor.

Mac's offense requires a QB that can make good decisions.
It's not an offense that requires a cannon for an arm.
Del Rio is a talented QB - he was in Elite 11 in High school, and is ridiculously underrated, mostly because people don't know his story.
I won't tell it again here, you can look it up if you really want to.
The fact is, he has been in the offense for 2 years, he knows it well enough to throw to a spot, and the team respects him.
The offense will look exactly like it did in the last 9 quarters - UT, OM, and Missouri before Grier got suspended. That's the kind of offense UF wants to run, but with more running if the OL is good enough to allow it.
If you watch those games, you won't notice a lot of difficult throws. The key is timing and good decision making. Grier struggled with the timing and decision making in his first three games. He sort of hit is stride after UT. I think the learning curve will be smaller for Del Rio.

Most importantly it will not be Treon.

So UT is obviously a gimme but where do we steal the other 3?

He reminds me a hell of a lot of Freshman Driskel (with less speed)-- big, huge arm, but very, very raw-- of course I trust Mac a lot more with development than the bridge troll.

I kind of want him to start the Georgia game-- and only the Georgia game-- the next 2 years, the Dawgs going 0-4 against starting QB Treon Harris would be amazing.

I agree he would nail a 50 yard bomb but then bounce a 10 yard crossing route.
I think UF fans just need patience with Franks and it will work out. You don't want to rush him. Mac is a good spot for him.

LSU, UGA, and FSU.

It appears that Del Rio has the upper hand but don't count out Appleby. Offense should be balanced, passing game will be better as well as the run game. O line is improved. Receivers still a question mark. After last years offense, post Grier, anything will be an improvement.
