I'm going to side with Saban, people heavily investigated this and he got charged with misdomeanor simple assault. Nothing more.

The reason he beat that poor poor girl is because he committed to MsState. The players are allowed to do whatever they want there. Mullen knows that Star Power overrides his authority so he just lets them do whatever they want. Look at Jamal Peters and Leo Lewis. Those guys barely even show up to practice and when they do they don't try. Simmons realized he was invincible when he signed with State. Had is been Bama, where Saban is a strict leader, or Ole Miss, where Freeze is a moral man, Simmons would not have committed this horrendous act.
