How is CU able to come into TN when the vols have all of this hype around the program and pull 3 of the state's top ten prospects. There are still 5 uncommitted in the states top ten according to 247. Clemson has three committed, while Oregon and UTk each have 1. Again this post is not intended to troll vol nation. Although, I am sure many of them will feel that way.

UT focuses on 3 stars.
CU focuses on 4 and 5 stars.

Just think what Dabo will do at Alabama after Saban retires.

Large amount of people have moved to the Nashville area in the last 10-20 years, leading to kids who don't grow up with the natural attraction to UT like kids from the Knoxville area might have (Tee being the exception for obvious reasons).

West TN has never been a VOL pipeline.

But it's still July, UT will bring in a highly rated class as long as the results on the field are positive this year

How many instate public verbal commits has UT told to look elsewhere in the last 3 years under Butch when bigger fish were signed?

Seems I've read that the number is kinda high & many of the UT fans on here have said that several of the instate 3* commits from the big weekend thing a coupla weeks ago will prolly be told to look elsewhere if possibly better options come into play...

One theory is that Butch is starting to alienate instate coaches & recruits parents due to the treatment of previously committed instate recruits. Many criticized Richt for being slow to offer & accept commits for this reason but he realized you gotta have the state coaches & recruits parents trust...

Even with as much hype as we are building going into 2016, we weren't a few points away from winning the national championship last season. Clemson is a sexy choice for a lot of guys around the country right now. That coupled with the fact that our passing game has left a lot to be desired under Dobbs and it's understandable why Amari and Tee (Both WR's) want to go play for a team with an offense that is sending guys to the league at a strong clip right now.

All that being said, it's a long way to go until February. I expect us to have a strong season this year and I think that ultimately helps recruiting going forward.

If Ole Miss pulls Trey Smith the melt will really be on.

Clemson won a CFB playoff game and was a few blown coverages and a poor special teams play away from possibly winning the whole thing... It's not rocket science... Throw in a preseason Heisman QB this season and your football brand is as strong as it's even been.

Richardson and Rogers were way down TN's board.

Them teaming up and heading to Clemson with a huge anti-Tennessee chip on their shoulders led to what happened yesterday.

Losing Higgins (for now and maybe for good) is a big loss, but lets be honest he is the only one TN was going after hard.

because they're coming off a national title appearance, are one of the hottest brands in the country right now, have a heisman frontrunner coming back, and have a fiery lovable young coach.

I dont' think this is any indictment on UT in any way, it's just CU has a lot more going for them right now.

It's pretty simple. Clemson was in the title game and are currently a good option for anyone offered there.

Swinney takes who he wants. You may not like it but you have to learn to live with it

I think its a combination of both. Clemson is hot right now and the recruits are just waiting for Butch and Co. and finally turn the corner. If UT had only lost 2, instead of 4, last year, I doubt we see Clemson have the type of success they are having in Tenn this year.

I still don't see how it would have made a difference. Clemson have become the premier program as far as pumping WRs into the NFL is concerned, where they would be glorified run blockers at UT until Dobbs is gone.
