He is! There really isn't any competition this year. Down year for running backs and all.

Anyone else feeling guilty for upvoting a Tennessee random stat/quote thread? But that gif though.

If you don't upvote this thread you've missed the point. This is about that .gif. There's no other way for a Vol fan to reasonably use that .gif since LSU and UT posters get along fairly well and we don't play one another often.

Coming from Butch my first instinct is it's a lie, but in this isolated instance I believe he speaks truth

Easily Dalvin Cook

Don't know about beat in the country, but imo he was easily the best one we faced last year.
He is very strong and has great balance. Makes him tough to bring down and he gets a lot of yards after contact.

That was the best gif in this website's history. Amazing.

I get it. It's just hard to up-vote after 2+ years of Serrawhatever, fat Phil, and a few others constant look at me/false bravado bs. But that's the ne of the better gifs I've ever seen on tRant..so eff the other fargin bastiages.....I up voted it and wish I could again. And I texted the gif to some Tennessee grad friends.

Eh I just ignore the trolls on the board. They do what they do and there's not much anyone from any fanbase can do about it.

Regardless of the trolls, we can at least enjoy one of the all time classic gifs.

I agree with this. Having seen all games in person he was a handful. Ut had some bigguns up front but Hurd could break tackles. Easily the best back I saw last year and I'm including Henry in that.

So...does Butch realize that he's setting himself up for a major fail in 2016? With statements like this, he'd better win the SECC or it could be dicey for him.
Recently this was brought up on a podcast somewhere (Kang?) but Jim Donnan essentially saw his exit in the wake of some similar commentary, when prior to the 2000 season, he said something to the effect of "I've been waiting 55 years to be the coach of a team with this much potential," and then added that he guaranteed Georgia was going to "get it done." We promptly lost 4 games but took down the goalposts against UT at home. (not a stellar moment IMO) While I think 3 consecutive losses to Tech and Florida didn't help his cause, going into a season and making grandiose statements as to the team's potential can set the bar at a difficult standard. While I agree that UT is in strong contention for the east this year, all this talking is a great way to get every team's best shot and it's a hell of a lot easier to when when you're underestimated.
Unrelated, I ended up watching most of that 2000 UT game standing down by the hedges (back in the day when they didn't force you to go find a seat). As it was coming to a conclusion, I was relatively unaware of all the people that had started encroaching the space behind me... ended up damn near getting squashed to death by dummies rushing the field to take down the goalposts. Glad that's not really a thing anymore. Also almost got out of there with a UT helmet but got stopped by GSP who just gave me a look, chuckled, and then said drop it and GTFO... so I did.

A lot depends on the type of back you want. Hurd is the embodiment of Old School football. He's absolutely punishing to defenders. I've seen faster backs but I don't remember another back who absolutely lived to terrorize defenders. He loves it.

Alpha Butch is right. Hurd is the best in the SEC and country. Everyone saw what he did to Bama. He beat them up. He is so damn strong, so damn fast (I saw him on that treadmill) so damn good as a blocker, and so damn hot. I would probably suck his dick. I know Butch would.
