For those of us planning on attending the tournament, seeding is very crucial to planning the trip. Your team could easily play one game on Tuesday and be eliminated or they could play from Wednesday-Sunday. Getting a top 4 seed is crucial as it guarantees you at least play until Thursday. Hope to see some other SECranters in Hoover in a few weeks. Hope this can help somewhat. Its still a very cloudy picture, but I will update this as we get closer until the final bracket is released.
Format:
-Only top 12 teams make the tournament
-Single elimination on Tuesday (5/24/16) for teams seeded 5-12. 1-4 seeds get a bye.
-Double elimination tournament starting on Wednesday (5/25/16) with the 8 remaining teams. Tuesday winners plus 1-4 seeds.
-Back to single elimination starting on Saturday (5/28/16) for semi-finals and finals.
Current Seeding:
1) Florida (16-7)
2) Texas A&M (16-8)
3) South Carolina (16-7)
4) Mississippi State (15-9)
5/6/7) Vanderbilt, LSU, and Ole Miss (14-10)
8) Kentucky (13-11)
9) Alabama (12-12)
10) Auburn (8-16)
11) Georgia (8-16)
12) Tennessee (7-17)
DNQ: Arkansas (7-17), Missouri (7-17)
Notes on seeding:
-Texas A&M is #2 over South Carolina because the top 2 seeds are the 2 division winners.
-Florida is #1 over South Carolina due to win% within the division (UF = 9-5, USC = 10-7)
-3 team tie-breaker between Vandy, LSU, and Ole Miss cannot be determined yet. Since Ole Miss and Vandy do not play this year in the regular season, seeding between the 3 teams will be determined by the win-loss percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed and proceeding through the No. 8 seed, if necessary, using common opponents only. Currently there are no common opponents among the 3 teams within the top 8 seeds, with the exception of their series against Mississippi State where all 3 teams went 1-2.
- Auburn is #10 ahead of UGA due to win-loss record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed using common opponents only (and proceeding through the No. 10 seed, if necessary). In this case, they both played #2 Texas A&M. Auburn went 1-2, UGA went 0-3.
- Tennessee beats out Arkansas and Missouri for the #12 seed due to their record vs Florida. Tennessee went 1-2 while the other 2 teams went 0-3.

Texas A&M (16-8) - @South Carolina, Ole Miss

Thanks for putting this together because it's pretty hard to make sense of it with everyone so bunched and all the various tie breakers

You mean MSU and A&M? If the top 4 win Wednesday and these seedings hold up (which is far from a done deal), I'd assume it would be #1 UF vs. #4 MSU and #2 A&M vs. #3 USC. Am I confused?

Thanks for all the positive responses
. My worst nightmare is that I make plans to get there Wednesday only to have my team eliminated on Tuesday, so as a fan of a bubble top 4 seed team I am watching this very closely. Figured others might be interested in the info.

You are correct. There is still tons of shifting to be done with just 2 weeks left in the regular season.
I am looking for State, Kentucky, LSU (cause I am biased), and Georgia to potentially make a move for higher seeds. Meanwhile Auburn will struggle to stay in the tournament.

Finally figured out who you root for. The Cal pic and fandom is a nice misdirection!
LSU had a HUGE comeback over the weekend. Biggest of the year? I'm guessing yes. Congrats on that. @UT my guess is your guys sweep. UF? Uggh. If they're on, that's trouble. I'm probably hopelessly biased after they swept A&M, though.

We usually go on Sunday and it would make for a long week, if we stayed, were MSU to be eliminated on Tuesday. The year we went to the CWS CS, we played Missouri on Tuesday and had a walk off after 17 innings and played all the way til Saturday. Had we lost that game, we probably would have been a 2 seed somewhere rather than hosting a Regional and may not have even seen Omaha.
Figured others might be interested in the info.

I went to both Cal and LSU, but I have been an LSU fan my whole life and live in Louisiana now. The Geaux in my username tends to give it away.
Last weekend was huge for us. @UT is a must win this weekend, but a sweep would put us in a great spot especially with alot of the teams in front of us playing tough opponents... UF will be tough, but I'm holding out hope we win at least 1.

It would for most people. But I have a son at Cal and he'd use "Geaux" just to screw with people's heads.
Good luck against the Gators, sincerely.

This doesn't make sense to me, Mizzou swept Tennessee and took 2 of 3 from Arkansas. I don't see why the record against Florida matters if the records are the same it should be head to head.

That would make sense to me. I got this from the SEC website:
I assumed since not all 3 are common opponents then it goes straight to criteria B.
quote:
A. If all three teams are common opponents: Total win-loss percentage of games played among the tied teams.
B. Win-loss percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed and proceeding through the No. 8 seed, if necessary, using common opponents only.

I was looking through my Hoover RV park packet for this year's tournament and several things stood out to me. Could be meaningless or it could mean someone has tipped their hand in the contract negotiations for 2017 and beyond.
1) The instructions for reserving a spot for next year are the same as always. We start calling at 8:30 AM on the Tuesday following Memorial Day. This is not really that surprising because they probably won't process your credit card until after the Spring meetings when the site is announced.
2)This is the most surprising. The Park is going to close from June 1 this year until May 1 of next year to remodel and renovate the existing park plus add 30 new RV spots. The only time the park is full is during the SEC tournament. So why would additional rv spots be needed?
3) Hoover is building a $70mm Sports Complex near the Hoover Met but I am not sure that type facility would have a heavy RV need. Multiple soccer fields, baseball fields, etc., but not really what you would think requires more RV spots.
4) So, a couple of weeks ago, I had it 50/50 between Hoover and Memphis. I think I will reconsider that and make it 60/40 Hoover.
Thoughts?
