Hey everyone,

Me and some friends wanted to hit up Ole Miss this year (For the UGA game) and check out the tailgating and festivities.

We are Husker fans and want to experience how things are at Ole Miss. We were just looking for some help, what bars to hit up? How awesome is the Grove? Should we just spend all the time there walking around? What is the booze policy, can you just carry it around in the open?

Thanks, would love some tips!

You can carry booze as long as it's in a cup

HELL no. The only way you can carry around alcohol (beer included) is if it's in a solo cup.

Make sure you put a lock on any cooler you bring as well.

Bring a cooler. Put everything in a cup. You aren't supposed to have beer but they won't check as long as it is in a cup. (Weird County/ City rules).

But you won't have to worry about that because we won't have a football program in a couple of week.

Some really cool bars. Only a few a of them allow gas mask bongs though. Also some 2 story bars if you feel like jumping out of windows. Call ahead if you are into that type of thing.

Bring a stack of Harriet Tubmans to get player handshakes during the walk of champions.

The Ole Miss/UGA game will be played in Athens this year. The NCAA is not allowing home games in Oxford.

Go to the woods near you. Imagine the KKK was there. You've just visited the Groooooove.

Omg, seriously? You want to go to an SEC game, and are leaning towards Oxford, Ms? Do yourself a favor and go to one of the 7 or 8 better SEC towns, though most don't have the unbelievably exaggerated "game day experience" that the Grove does. Go to Athens, Fayetteville, Nashville, Knoxville, Lexington, Baton Rouge, or College Station. A couple of those aren't upper echelon college towns, but they are close to better metropolitan areas than Memphis. Hell, go to Columbia, MO for that matter. It's close to NE and you should have no trouble getting good seats.

The best Bars in Oxford will charge between $30-$60 cover on the weekend. There is a no alcohol policy in the grove, unless it's in a red solo cup, so don't plan on hauling around cases of beer. The cuisine in the grove is typical southern fare: cold chic-fil-a platters and wal-mart deli trays.
