No, of course not.
That would be absurd. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be careful about who they associate with, but no - girls shouldn't treat every guy they meet at a bar as a potential rapist (and thus decline a drink). That's nowhere close to reality.

You know what? I think (Yes, seriously, sometimes!) that in my mind...by labeling Tunsil a victim I think you are taking responsibility off him. If you can admit that he is at fault while also being a victim, then I can go along with that.
Just like the case of the underage girl drinking. She is a victim....but she is also at fault, too.
Does this make sense, or no?

Oh my god he took a video on his phone that could have been seen by potential employers

He filmed himself smoking weed. You do something that stupid, you deserve whatever you get.
He still went first round. This isn't a La'el Collins situation we're talking about.

Of course he's at fault for smoking and recording. I just don't agree that because he smoked weed he somehow "deserved" or was "asking for" this. And that he's not a victim.
If this came out well before the draft, it wouldn't have nearly cost him as much and not nearly as big of a story. Instead it happened a few minutes before the biggest night of his life in an attack to disparage his character.

Dumb logic

Thank you Belle.
I don't see anything in the article about blackmail though. I see someone trying to earn money from the video to news outlets.
. If they asked LT for money not to release it it doesn't say.

So making a mistake means you are automatically unable to be a victim? Do you understand how obtuse that comes across?
I'll ask this; would it change your tune if it comes to light that he was blackmailed? Then, legally, he is a victim and legally there was a crime committed. Does it take it being that cut and dry for you to get over yourself and your sanctimonious views?

LT was a victim of in my mind, BUT he still did an illegal activity and made a video of it. How dumb is that? And why did he not delete it? I mean shite, how long has it been on his phone or wherever it was?

Yes that makes sense. Plenty of victims make mistakes. If Iwave my house unlocked and someone comes in and steals from me, I'm still a victim. I understand there has to be a crime committed by the hacker in this scenario, and we are still waiting to hear the details on that.

Tunsil is a victim of blackmail, but he is also a victim of his own decisions.
So he has to own up to it, and try to move forward

How do you know it was on his phone? How do you know he didn't tell someone to delete it and was told it was deleted, only to find out it wasn't? He could have immediately regretted it the next day for all we know.

I agree with this overall point though. He's not innocent.

I think you maybe missing the point some are making. I don't think they are saying he deserved it or asking for it sans a small number. However, it is the consequences of his choices. Sometimes those consequences are good and sometimes they are bad.
In Tunsils case it was costly. Without knowing all the facts this is a difficult one to determine. I have seen a lot of speculation on both sides of this debate in here. We all simply don't know all the facts to be absolute in our opinions.

If it was another phone, I would have found that phone and deleted it. Still crazy that he made the video. I do want to know who the hacker was and the motive.

The argument I'm making is directly aimed at the ones who specifically said that he did.
I'm not saying Tunsil is free from any wrong-doing. I'm not mad that teams skipped over him and he lost money because of it. The entire point of this thread is to remind people that Tunsil, while he made a mistake, is indeed a victim here. And people just can't seem to grasp that.

I agree.
Do we know for sure he was blackmailed?

It would change my tune if you stopped trying to diminish his role in all of this. He has to be held accountable. This isn't "poor Leremy" time. It's "you were a complete and total moron" time.
Simply labeling it as a "mistake" doesn't relieve him of the consequences - whether harsh and unforeseeable or not.

I'm not saying he deserved what he got.
I'm saying he's accountable for it.
