Dude I think "Kirby's Law" triggered IT.
Yup. I'm "triggered", whatever the frick that means. I don't speak 12 year old, so not sure. By triggered, are you referring to me putting out facts instead of a journalists bullshite write-up on something that he/she feels prohibits them? At least my article included a lot of quotes and facts, not speculation and opinion.

UGA should put CIYE to work in the athletic department. I'm sure the SID could use a hand pulling old data and stats and whatnot, and CIYE sure seems to have a wide database of UGA knowledge to pull from at a moment's notice.

It's the same law most states have already.
The article said no other states or federal agencies have 90+ days, what states are you referring to?

My google skills are on point, but this article has already been making the rounds on the boards. I saw it over on 247sports.

I didn't mean the kirby's law article in particular, I meant just in general.

Do you think this law will not prohibit or hinder any reporter from getting information through FOI requests?
Nope. It won't. It will just take longer for them to get the information...

Kirby did a great job with his agenda. Good lobbying Kirbs.

90 days? My apologies then. They were originally saying 60 days like most other states.

Mother frickers around here are going to be crying to have Richt back.

Hopefully Kirby has more "law" coming up to reduce over-policing.

again, not a big deal, but I don't think that's accurate
quote:
Other SEC states give athletic programs between three and 15 days to respond to FOIA requests. (The exceptions are Florida and Alabama, which require athletic departments to respond in a “reasonable” amount of time.)
I can't speak for universities, but most other agencies in the state are really pushing it to justify 30 days in Alabama, as a reasonable amount of time (but i also think that's to produce requested records, not acknowledge receipt of the request, assuming it's done under sunshine law).

However, if a player is arrested by UGA Police, and they file a report on it, that report won't have to even be acknowledged by a FOI request for 90 days
If you read multiple articles, you will see this only applies to public universities Athletic Departments. Again, read more instead of finding one shitty article, jumping over to tRant and trying to make a big deal out of nothing

UGA Police Dept is solely funded by the university. Kirby's Law impacts the Ath Dept FOI requests. I get it.
Does the UGA Police have a detention center and do they do booking, or do they turn those cases/part of the process over to ACCPD?

I'll try to find the AJC article that stated it. Either way it's not that big of a deal.

I think this.
In regard to Kirby's Law, everybody else can suck it. It's a new day in Athens. We're finally going rogue.

Welcome to the club.
My only question. Is it worth it knowing you have to give up your moral high ground you guys loved to flex? Obviously it is.
