I'd hope UF would host a camp in Tuscaloosa but therein lies the problem. The war gets expanded.
Right, because the NCAA is known as the bastion of fairness. The "war" is and has been out of hand for some time, let's stop pretending otherwise.

I'm not pretending anything. I just told you what would happen. I'm for not expanding the war. You seem passionate about this. Why?

That, in itself, seems inherently unfair to the rest of the country, right?
No.
Look up the concept of MAD OP:

If the NCAA didn't act then the SEC would have changed our rule and coaches like Saban would have camps ALL over the country to compensate for what Harbaugh tried to do. What make the NCAA react wasn't the fairness of this current situation, but the fact that it would quickly be escalated into another arms race. Every new arms race makes amateurism harder to defend in court.

So nobody has a better argument than "because some schools can afford it and other school can't", correct?
Does this mean we need to apply that same precedent to everything else football teams to do get ahead? I mean, those that can afford it?

Also a great question. I'm just trying to understand both sides. That and I must be a glutton for punishment.

The NCAA got this one right.
The satellite camp issue was in the process of stirring up some serious shite not only between conferences, but also between the Coaches inside conferences.
Neutral site games suck for the fans, but if regular season neutral site games are outlawed, the NCAA would get into contract issues, such as the Arkansas/Texas A&M contract to play at Jerry World.

We all can be.
If we agree that this will create more and more ways for the rich to get richer then we can agree that disallowing it is the right thing to do.

Fine, I can understand that. But if that's the justification, why does it start and stop there? What makes this specifically the hair that broke the camel's back? Why is this cheating and not innovation in the eye of the NCAA, when so many things before it have been okay?
Posted on 4/8/16 at 2:46 pm to mwade91383
Name those things (so many things before it). Point out cheating that goes unpunished.
I've learned that if we can talk about specifics then we can come to agreement. If we just generalize then we are prone to call each other names.

You misunderstand me, why is this considered cheating? When all of the other over the top lavish advantages football players and coaches and top programs get, are okay?

Isn't the point, "other schools can't afford it, so it's not fair for other schools to do it"? When has that ever stopped anyone from doing anything ever college football?

No, I pretty clearly said the reason is to prevent further escalation of the football arms race. Kinda like how a guy who gets rich by illegal gains doesn't want to blantely spend the money on cars and houses in order to avoid drawing attention to himself.

It doesn't. The NCAA all the time puts a cap on the arms race when they can.
That is why they ruled the LHN couldn't have high school games on it. Or why teams can't have Spring Games off campus. Or why we have rules like the "bump rule."
They are trying to stay ahead of the situation but the sport is worth too much now for them to prevent everything, so they just try to prevent rapid escalations.

why is this considered cheatin
No one that I know of has called it cheating. It's more likely termed an unfair advantage for the more well to do schools.

Quality point and I'd upvote more than once if I could. I'm a huge LSU fan and anything u do in life to one up someone as long as its ethically and morally sound make it happen. It would definitely make it interesting.

So it's about maintaining the illusion of fairness??? I hear where you're coming from but it loses credibility when it clearly favors one group of teams vs the others.

What is "it" and what teams are being favored because of it?

ok fine, but why?
And I challenge you to say something other than "other school can't afford it" because we know that statute doesn't hold up with anything else, ever.
