Isn't a sanctioned sport per the NCAA and isn't on their website.

But, just because.......

Top 10
1. Auburn (8-1)
2. Georgia (9-2)
3. Texas A&M (9-2)
4. Baylor (9-3)
5. Oklahoma State (6-4)
6. SMU (5-5)
7. TCU (4-7)
8. Kansas State (4-5)
9. South Carolina (3-8)
10. Fresno State (3-7)

Never seen a 3-8 team in a National Top 10 before. Guess that only applies to sports with 18 participating teams.

Either the NCEA needs to turn into an NCAA sanctioned sport, or UGA needs to drop it. We win titles, but if it's not recognized by the NCAA who cares?? I don't.

They have tried, not enough teams participate. They almost got dropped from the "emerging sports" list earlier this year.

Boy, I wonder what Auburn, SC, UGA, and A&M think of that... If it weren't for Title IX do you think more schools would participate?

ETA: I do understand that it is a very expensive sport to obtain.

How is Ole Miss not in the top half of the SEC in golf? Seems like a natural fit for them.

Women's Gymnastics

That's impressive, and everything...

...but any contest where the outcome is solely the result of judges' opinions of how good it looked, is NOT a sport. It's either entertainment or politics. See Dancing With The Stars.

So, please, leave out the Boobless Romanian Midget Flipping.

Thank you.

Can't get an NCAA title but you can get a recognized SEC title though

Interesting question, I have no idea. I kind of wonder if it only exists because of Title IX? I think it is in that "last sport" spot for a lot of places that either gets taken by Women's Lacrosse, Women's Rowing, Equestrian, maybe Water Polo. And, it generally only is participated in by schools that probably already have those types of facilities due to their agricultural programs.

Yea, I edited earlier and included the fact that equestrian is very expensive to keep and maintain. That may be why most colleges stick with polo, sand volleyball or lacrosse (something I would rather have honestly).

Yea - have to wonder when Georgia starts up Men's and Women's Lacrosse. It's such a popular sport in Metro Atlanta that you have to think it isn't too far away at UGA.

Lacrosse would be cool to have. But let's keep in mind, NCAA D1 Men's Lacrosse has been around since 1971; NCAA D1 Women's Lacrosse has been around since 1982.

Equestrian has only been around since 2002.

I played lacrosse in high school. Would love to see it take off. I think South Carolina has a club team

I think most of the SEC does at this point. It's extremely popular in the bigger cities and suburbs. It's a fun sport to watch, too. And of course it is huge in Virginia and Maryland.

Not so fast....

Gamecocks Go Back-to-Back
Hampton Anderson and Chris Blanchette of the University of South Carolina team brought in 13 pounds, 4 ounces on Saturday, March 19 to win the 2016 FLW College Fishing National Championship on Lake Keowee. This marks the second consecutive year that a member of the Gamecocks’ bass fishing team has worn the FLW College Fishing crown.

I think we'd get a men's soccer program before a lacrosse team
