According to the Clarion-Ledger, Rebels DT Breeland Speaks was arrested just after midnight for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was released just after 7:00 a.m. this morning.

Speaks is a redshirt sophomore who is one of the options to replace former Ole Miss DE Robert Nkemdiche in the 2016 season. He had 32 tackles and one sack in 2015.

Thankfully no one was hurt and now he will go through the legal process. Drinking and driving is just something people need to stop.

Those college cops love getting people for DUI/DWI's. They live for that shite.

Except in Oxford where the cops are complicit in the cover up of the greatest recruiting conspiracy of our generation. This cop was obviously a leghumper plant in our midst.

No they don't. It's a ton of paperwork and ridiculously aggravating to get a conviction on

You must be unfamiliar with the OPD and the Lafayette county sheriff's department

Cops in Oxford and Starkville get huge boners over giving out DUI's because their lives suck.

That's very irresponsible for him to do. He could've killed someone or himself. He needs to reevaluate his life and take his life and education more seriously. Good luck to Breeland.

Unless OPD waives the paperwork (they don't) and the accused willfully confess without hiring an attorney (they don't) then I can guarantee you that the cops there don't enjoy doing it

I and many of the other posters here from Mississippi could regale you with stories about our friends and families experiences with the police in Oxford but you would probably dismiss them as anecdotal. We know some of the officers that work there too. It would be best if you just believed us.

Here's some mississippi DUI info, from a (biased) dui factoid page on an attorney's website

Sounds like charging someone with a DUI is a lot like sharpening a pencil and inserting it directly into your ear hole.

Where jury trials are available, success rates for acquittal are surprisingly good. The national average for acquittals is about 50 percent for those accused of drunk driving if their cases are heard by juries. In some jurisdictions, only about 20 percent to 30 percent of all drunk-driving arrests lead to a conviction, while other states have an 80 percent to 90 percent conviction rate.

Explain why it would be best for me. Or did you mean to say something else?
