MONTGOMERY, Ala. – If you have a current Alabama conceal carry permit, you are no longer required to undergo a background check when purchasing a firearm, Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange announced Friday.
Strange said the U.S. Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms have agreed to his request for an exemption to the mandatory National Instant Criminal Background Check, provided the Alabama conceal carry permit was issued on or after August 1, 2013, and within the past five years by the state, and that the permit has not expired under state law.
frick yeah.

Do you have to submit fingerprints? We do here in AK for NCIS exemption.
eta: nvm, fingerprints were part of the CCP, not the NCIS exemption.

Nope. Just 3 references.
They need to pass federal law allowing CC across ALL state lines now. 2nd Amendment should be national, not within one state or a select few.

Yep, couldn't agree more. The wife and I had to travel to Seattle recently and Wash. doesn't reciprocate with AK. Man, I felt bad for breaking their fricking laws.

I hear ya. Rights are Rights.
If you aren't in prison or some kind of facility because you're a danger, you should have the right to the 2nd Amendment with no restrictions, no matter where you are. If you are too dangerous to have that Right, then you shouldn't be amongst the population.

In my experience, some retailers will still make the phone call. Especially at the big chain stores. They say "it's company policy".
The absolute worst place to buy a firearm (or anything for that matter) is Walmarks. Dear God, it took almost an hour. They actually had to call a manager to walk me and the firearm out the door, not letting me hold the fricking box. I told the guy that this State has CC and you saw my CCP and you can guess that I was probably packing, right?
He said "yea, company policy".

Birmingham Pistol Wholesale is where I buy or Simmons.. if it's retail. Used to live next door to the owner of BPW and Simmons has good deals at times.. or the occasional pawn shop great deal. Otherwise, its usually individual. Although I have bought over the internet a couple times the last couple yrs with some great deals.

Found some really good deals through gunwatcher.com. Buying online is almost too easy though, I dropped almost 10k last year, mostly on Colts. A few beers, a debit card and my FFL calls me in a couple days, I got a box here for you.
It's like Christmas! wtf did I buy?

I hear ya. I made the mistake of getting my C&R license.. and tapped into Palmetto State Armory's clearance specials a couple times.

Wait. Y'all still had to do a background check even after you had a permit? frick. Those things are one of the main reasons I got a CWP. It was getting annoying having to wait. I always got flagged and cleared a few days later. I never figured out why I would get flagged, but one dealer said it might have something to do with my security clearance.
I'm glad y'all got that fixed.

well, I am part owner of a pawn shop,I'm not there much anymore, but when I am, I hate doing the call in.Especially when it is for the person that pawned the gun in the first place. I have to call it in,for him to pick up he weapon that already belongs to him.Even if the person is a LEO or whatever..and that happens quite a bit.
At least this will cut down on some of that.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I just wish the people who support a vigorous 2nd Amendment would apply the same logic to the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th Amendments.
