I may have to disagree. Alabama is probably right behind Mississippi. South Carolina is very southern, but also more progressive than Mississippi. Charleston keeps some "liberal pockets" alive there.

this is true, SC does have a high retiree population due to golf courses all over the place, low state taxes and climate but for a candidate to win IOWA and lose SC and blame the loss in SC on "pockets of liberalism" is a sign of going full retard.

Link to arrest or charges?

Or you can show me a picture of the injuries. They should be all over the Internet.

Demographically, Mississippi is 42% liberal. The entire makeup of Jackson and Hinds county is liberal. State wide office holders are conservative (other than the AG).

Yeah, that's stupid. South Carolina is still very much Old South, and even amongst Southern states, elects some very conservative politicians. And some that shack up with Latin love queens, but things do slip through the cracks on occasion.

Alabama has 4, maybe 5, cities that would be classified as urban. Most of the votes from AL are coming from Birmingham, which has a significant liberal-GOP population especially in the Southern suburbs. Romney won Birmingham, Mobile-Baldwin, and Montgomery.

Mississippi is very weird, though, when it comes to primaries, now that I'm doing some research on it. Romney won the counties on the Mississippi River, Santorum won Northeast, and Gingrich won Hattiesburg area.

My bottom line was that Alabama has more urban areas than Mississippi, but it turns out Mississippi voting patterns are fricking weird and make no sense

Yes, this is weird and surprising to me. I doubt the number in Alabama would be even this high despite having more large Urban areas.

It depends on what the definition of liberal is. If Democrat? Mississippi has a higher black population. But I was talking only about liberal faction within GOP

Mississippi has the largest number of black people by percentage of the total population of any state in the country, and they tend to be more liberal in their voting patterns.

I was just going with "Southern values" and good ole boy network. I understand that African Americans vote democrat, but they don't really bring liberal ideas to the table. They are just told to vote democrat, because that's what they will always do. A lot of the older generations are more conservative than whites in present day.

So Black people are not voting for a republican in the primary anyway. That's what I was meaning by Charleston and more of the tree hugging variety.

But when I really think about what he is saying, he is just an arse clown. Those "liberal pockets" were not the reason for you getting curved stomped.

Edit: I realize black people are not all the same and some actually believe in liberal values. I also know that white people in the south tend to vote the same. Keep the protesting and hunger strikes to a minimum, Mizzou.

The only part of Missouri that's Liberal is Columbia, KC and STL. Look at the election maps and look at all the RED counties in Missouri.

Gotcha. So you're referencing what's now considered the "establishment" part of the republican party and not the tea party/evangelicals
