I agree from a purely literary point of view, but from a kid whose favorite "character" was Atticus because of the first book it was a bit sad. Realistic and well done, but still sad. We all know enough of those people in real life, I wasn't excited to see my fictional hero go down the same path.

I saw an interview with Dylan a while back, and he was asked," You were famous, for songs, like. Blowin In The Wind, Hollis Brown..etc...,why don't you do things like that anymore?"

He said something like,I guess I went as far as I could with it,said all I could say about it,you move on.

IMO When you try to recapture the essence of the original, you end up with Boston's Don't Look Back Album, and it will always be compared to the original, probably not favorably.

I have decided to ignore the new book, Atticus is still my hero.
