In Historic First, Einstein's Gravitational Waves Detected Directly

At a press conference this morning, Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) researchers announced the discovery.
The interaction of two black holes merging generated waves that were detected at the two LIGO installations, one in Livingston, LA and the other in Hanford, WA.
This confirmation of gravity waves is strong evidence that the universe expanded in an extremely rapid burst right after it was born, a process known as cosmic inflation. So it's another log of proof that something like the Big Bang happened as the beginning of our Universe.
