Yup, pretty much the stereotype to the letter

Sickening because most savvy conservatives aren't like that these days, but there's always some out there being....themselves

I disagree with your premise, unsurprisingly. His "state right" he was fighting for may have been slavery, but it would have been abolished eventually. The loss of states rights as the overall outcome was a sincere and horrible detriment to liberty and freedom in the United States. I'm glad you're not picking my cotton tbird, but there's a fair chance you still wouldn't be had the south won, and figs in sanfrancisco or socialists in vermont would have less influence on your daily life.
