Who the hell told you Saban didn't drink?
He just doesn't drink in public because of the shite the teetotalers would give him. He's said as much in interviews.
Bryant was a cultural icon that Saban can never be,but Saban is the Superior coach.

He actually said he quit drinking in public, because so many people (I'm assuming like you) would make a stink about it.

If the administration and money people bought in, Saban could turn Kentucky or Vandy into SEC champs.
CNS is process oriented.
It would take longer at a Vandy or KY, but it would happen- IF he stayed long enough.
The problem is when a coach has success at a non-traditional place, he will have immediate large financial incentives to go somewhere else with more resources.
Alabama has been more successful than the rest of us. They have also put more personnel and resources into their program for decades than most of us have. If we are serious about competing with them, we need to focus on process and understand it takes tremendous resources to be successful- not big screen TVs.

Does that include the water he turns into wine?

Bryant will always have more historical significance to the University of Alabama. What Saban has accomplished in an era of scholarship restrictions, more parity, and a better conference as a whole is more impressive.

I've been around for a long time.
I'll have to vote up Saban over the Bear. Times are different, and I think it's harder to win a title now than 40 years ago.
8 years of being ranked #1 in a row at some point in the season, 4 national titles. That's just hard to top as an achievement.

It's a shame that a great coach and alum like Bear will always be in Saban's shadow.

It's not sold in any SEC venue. This is the crisis we should be coming together to address.

If Bryant had coached under the Playoff or BCS formula, his teams play for 16 National Championships. 1 at KY, 1 at Texas A&m and 14 at Bama.
Is Tiger better than Jack? Nope, Jack has 18 majors, Tiger has 14.
Is Saban better than Bryant? Does Saban have 6?
Bryant won the National Title 3 times in the 60's, could have been 4 in 6 years if the polls don't frick him in '66.
He won 3 in the 70's, could have been 4 in 6 years if the media doesn't frick him in '77
