Does this really work? You don't have to get down there to them?
Yep. It works. We catch big spots out of 30 feet of water on topwater baits
They come up.

We have been living on the razor's edge for quite some time in South Louisiana. Tropical Storm Juan in the 90's nearly destroyed the Old River Control Structure.
Katrina broke New Orleans.
Rita razed Cameron Parish.
Isaac sank Laplace and was only an inch or two from breaching the levees in Ascension.
2011 river flooding nearly undermined the levees south of Baton Rouge.
I am praying for everyone residing in the Mississippi watershed right now. Generally, when the Ohio is high, the Missouri is low. Right now, every river which flows into the Mississippi has record levels of water racing down it. There's only one place for it all to go.
I just hope the ORCS holds and that we don't have another 1927 on our hands.

Hmmm....So you are bitching about about water in a river in one state being used as a resource for another state
No, we are saying frick Georgia. They are not going to drain the Tennessee River to keep their ghetto wet. Simple as that.

And I don't think you understood the hypocrisy of your statement

Georgia's border with Tennessee is supposed to be situated on the 35th parallel. It somehow got shite out of that survey by a horizontal mile on the border. This is fact and the law has clearly proven it to be so. The problem is its a 200 yr old frick up.

When you consider what they had to measure with it's pretty good that they only missed by a mile.

We talking Lake Lanier, Georgia or Lake Lanier, SC?
Both are way high right now.
I'm about to lose one of the pond dams on my property. The county blocked it off at the road yesterday and engineers are coming out tomorrow to see if it can be saved.

I'm far from an expert on the subject but from the numbers they are forecasting I don't see anyway we have another 1927 unless the COE Has drastically miscalculated the strength of our protection system
The other reason is that after having read several books on the subject I don't think it's possible for someone who didn't witness '27 in person to truly understand how bad it was

The lake was down but the media blew up the severity of what was going on. Killed a lot of businesses around the lake. Of course, the day it started to come back up, they all disappeared.
Lake Lanier has a average depth of 60 feet. It got down about 22-23 feet total
It was far from drying up. I had a blog on the ESPN website for 6 months during that time period. They called me asking me to run a weekly article about the drought and the lake conditions. It was more realistic that the local news. I applaud ESPN for letting me write the truth

"the lake will never fill up"
...few weeks later in September..."We're at full pool, folks"
A lot of ramps were closed, a lot of people had their docks way out or just grounded, but I was out there almost every weekend because of the great weather, with no issues

Fishing was unbelievable as well. I didnt like the lake down because it was bad for businesses but you will never get that level of fishing again

Well, good thing they've never done that before

Yea ummm.....my posts was under the assumption that they have drastically changed their protocol since that......uhhhh......situation
Plus this kind of forecasting is little different, much easier to predict how much water will travel down river than it is to predict how a Cat 4 hurricane will track/how much rain/wind it causes

Looks like they are dropping West Point back down so Lanier can release more water. But Goat Rock, Harding, Eufaula are still above full pool.
Maybe West Point wont be flowing with crap from Atlanta by Friday or Saturday. Cause I was planning on going those two days.
