Auburn: Chris Low of ESPN is reporting that “barring a late snag” LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele is heading to Auburn to be Gus Malzahn’s defensive coordinator. Sources tell FootballScoop that Auburn’s offer is real; but that LSU is trying to retain him this morning. We also hear that Steele is close to vesting in Alabama’s pension plan….so. By my count he has at most 4 years of service credit, and it takes 10.

Its an odd story and I don't know what to make of it just yet. I don't think Steele is the arse clown this board makes him out to be but he was certainly an underwhelming hire for LSU last year. It does make sense that LSU might be maneuvering to keep Coach O but Auburn has had more time to conduct a search this year than LSU had following Chiefgate. All in all, I'm skeptical of this story. We'll see how it plays out.
