This is not just the internet, but a college football message board. Don't knock a post by citing facts.

Charlie Weis is one of the fattest humans around.

Quite frankly, I don't give a shite about Chaney's weight as long as he gets results.

dammit this is TWICE in the last hour I've had a massive brain fart. I was thinking roper...didn't occur to me that he didn't start with muschamp.

I need to call it a day before I start trying to say we won a national title last year or something.

Chaney did not coach QB's until he went to TN. Greg Olsen coached the QB's at Purdue during that time. Chaney is an OL coach that has gotten a ton of mileage on his time at Purdue. What has he done since he left Purdue? Joe Tiller was the HC and brought Chaney with him since his time at Montana and Wyoming. The off was Tiller's and not Chaney's.

I am a Ark guy that lives and coaches in GA. I currently have 2 kids playing for the Dogs both on off and I hope that they have a great career. In short I am not trolling just asking a question, what has Chaney done since he left Purdue?

The only reason Urban Meyer has 3 championships is because Chaney taught him about the spread. You stupid mother fricker.

So, as an Arky fan that knows football, what is your opinion on his stint at Arky and why did he leave? Also your opinion on Pittman would be appreciated.

Obviously have not researched as much as you but I do work with a Arkansas grad who was pretty stunned by the hire.He obviously thinks its a package deal to get Pittman.

He reminded me of our '14 game against them.I believe they pretty much drove the ball down our throats the opening drive and got the ball back close to the 50 and attempted a play action on 1st down and I believe we sacked em for a 20 yrd loss. I think they threw a pick on the next play.

Never could figure why they didn't keep pounding it after that 1st drive and especially with strength of our defense being our pass rushers.

Obvoiusly a small window to judge but it still worries me

Worries me too. Main complaint I have heard is that he abandons the run game pretty easily, especially late in games. He supposedly just starts airing it out at the end of games on 3rd and shorts and doesn't grind the game out.

I still have my reservations.

In general it seems like football people and UT fans think it's a solid hire. Arky fans think it's bad.

I havent seen enough to judge. Fan commentary on playcalling is generally pretty uninformed though. A lot of times, it's just an easy target.

Yea, I agree. When well renouned pundits speak, I'll listen. When pissed off fans speak, I take it with the largest grain of salt. Remember, there's still a VERY large contingent of Georgia fans who were ecstatic when Bobo took the CSU job.

To me Chaney was put in a bad situation going in to ARK. The talent level was terrible to say the least. He was universally disliked from the first game onward. He was nudged out the door in that all the assistants but 2 were given raises after year 2. He was one of the 2 so he left.

Pittman is interesting as he is a good coach that relates well to the kids. A fantastic recruiter also. This is the reason so many ARK fans are upset. Losing Pittman is a blow to our recruiting effort. You got upgraded here big time.

We have a split decision just like last year when Richt Hired Schotty. Half the fan base said...NFL OC with a great coaching pedigree...whats not to like? Then the Ram's fans were rejoicing he was gone and told us he sucked dick. In this case I'm hoping this hire goes the other way. But I do believe Kirby will weigh in on abandoning the run late in the game. I look for Smart to leanb on Chaney as Saban has done this year with Lane when he didn't want to tun the ball...Good HC will trump bad tendencies, or at least I hope.

Chaney has a lot of accomplishments that few know about. These are both on and off the field:
1. Introduced the use of Boost phones for Arky's coaching staff
2. Instrumental in bring Mike Slive to the SEC
3. Developed and dominated the sport of tag team eating with Jimmy Sexton
4. Advised Cam Newton on what type of laptop he needed when he was at UF
