So let me get this straight

-ADGM fires Richt
-Hires Kirby
-Saban makes sure KS stays in Bama to help win a title (Would be their 4th), preaches "loyalty to players and honoring commitments"
-Alabama hires Pruitt away from Georgia
-Pruitt will leave immediately to recruit for Bama and won't coach UGA in the bowl game (despite our entire defense pleading for Pruitt to stay showing their loyalty to him)
So our Athletic admin. fires Richt, but let's Kirby coach at Bama until mid January where our DC has accepted a job and will leave our program immediately. Leaving our players to be coached by a handful of assistants (who know they won't be retained) and a bunch of G.A.'s...so much for our younger players being developed and getting better during those 15 bowl practices
Our players deserve way more than that.

Hopefully this means that Pruitt will coach Bama in the playoffs and Smart can work full time at UGA, but I'm sure that is highly unlikely. This situation reeks of futility by UGA AD...

It's a bowl game. You're overreacting.
We are bringing in the guy who stays loyal to his players and insists on seeing it through to the end. We are losing a guy who hasn't spent two years at any major job he's had.
The Kirby Smart hire wasn't made so that we could keep a lot of old pieces. It signifies a culture shift. Someone else said it better yesterday - there's no way Pruitt could have been retained. Kirby needs total control of the program to make the changes we want to see, and I think a lot of guys would have seen Pruitt as the man in charge of he was kept around.
Our defense will be fine. Everyone close to the search has said that guys are beating down the door to work with Kirby. Make no mistake - he could have kept Pruitt. It should excite people that Kirby has a long term vision in place, so much so that he is willing to forgo two months of great recruiting in order to get he program where it needs to go.
I don't know why everyone is freaking out. We never expected him to be here next year ever since the whole Richt/Thomas brown thing. And no matter what, he would be gone after next season.

While I agree that it sucks for the players if that's how it plays out, sticking around to coach in the playoff is a hell of a lot more different than coaching in a meaningless bowl game.

-Richt is coaching and recruiting for Miami right now, and will most likely take a few of our commits with him
-Pruitt will be at Alabama recruiting for them and will definitely take multiple commits and possibly 2 5 star targets who were heavy UGA leans
-Our Head Coach is coaching for Alabama right now, who would still win the natty without him
Don't you love how we always get the short end of the stick

Breaking from Richt was never going to be easy

There's a price to pay for change. I'm personally willing to pay it.
I'm not that worried about our recruiting class.

It's not a huge deal, but he should be coaching the bowl game.

I wouldn't say that I'm not that worried about recruiting, I am, but I am with you. I knew a price would be paid to finally take football seriously. I knew we'd likely lose recruits. I knew we'd lose our staff. I figured we'd lose the bowl game. It's just the price of doing business.
Doesn't mean that now it happens I'm not going get pissed or be hopeful that we limit the damage. I'm having trouble with the Pruitt stuff considering it sounded like he wanted to stay. But it's all worth moving on from the Richt era.

I'm reserving judgment and not getting all giddy yet..I like CKS, but I'm skeptical.....the jury is definitely still out and will be for some time with me...it would help me tremendously if he would name an O coordinator and lock down Eason...all who wanted CMR gone so bad may be gnashing teeth in a year when Miami is playing for an ACC title and we are playing in another shitty bowl...just sayin...time will tell...God forbid we turn out like Tennessee...or Bama b4 Saban for that matter

MFing THIS.
Until the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change - you will NEVER change.

You might not agree with every move Kirby is making, but you can't deny he is jumping in with both feet to accelerate the program.
In the end, that's what people were fed up with when Richt was in charge.

I like CKS...its just got me antsy him not naming some coaches...meanwhile guys are transferring and decomitting...I kinda wish UF had won that game....

I'm fine with all that is unfair in this whole situation just to NOT see Mark Richt on our sideline ever again.

Most of what youre saying is problematic of how mcgarrity handled this entire situation. The firing came across to the entire country as impulsive .to players, recruits, and potential staff. Kirby is having to step in and clean that up. Lower your fricking expectations accordingly. this isn't going to be a silky smooth transition solely because of how this went down

Are you referring to my post specifically? I don't have immediate expectations. You gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette.
Regardless of how we got here, people need to start trusting that Kirby is making the right choices for the long term success of the program.

How much damage can Pruitt really do during the dead period?
