We coach Rec 10-under. Been to District twice, state once, and county championship every year we've coached since 8 under.

Here is my problem: we've lost 3 county championships to travel/rec teams. It's not an excuse to lose but has anyone ever experienced this?

My thing is you want to play travel play travel. We play a travel team tom again during regular reason is why I'm asking.

I was part of a travel team that played in a rec league. This was baseball and it was about 10 years ago though.

We were all from the same district and grew up playing at that park. We allowed the team to be separated during the regular season and then all of us would make the All-star team and play together.

I don't see the problem with how we did it but lots of people had problems with it for some reason. It was our dream as little kids to play in the little league World Series so why should we be banned from ever getting a shot at it? Your kid got a fair shake at making the All star team so what's the problem?

We ended up choking at the end of the state tournament for little league but we ended up being number 1 in the state in travel for a 2-3 year stretch.

If it is rec league, just teach the fundamentals and let them all play.

Their are always people who put travel teams in rec or church leagues. It won't change bc I don't like it.

Bottom line: Teach fundamentals. Give all the kids a chance to play and don't stress over losing to Kentucky or Golden State in the finals of your Rec league.

I coach travel baseball. We got into a situation where practice fields were scarce. When talking to the city about renting fields, we were told that we wouldn't get practice fields unless we were playing in the rec league. Therefore, we entered our team into the rec league.

We would always throw our weaker pitchers and flip the batting order upside down during the games against most rec teams. Wasn't ideal for us or the rec teams, but it was what we had to do to get access to practice fields. May be a similar deal with trying to get time in a gym in your area.

I coached youth basketball one year. The kids were great, but parents are crazy.
