There was a really good interview on 920 today with Barry Tramel of The Oklahoman.

After listening to him I think Heupel would be a really-really good fit. I'm sold.

I think he would be a solid hire.

Now pull out the stops and grab Tosh Lupoi. (if we are really in the running for him)

I hope so.

Crib notes for those who don't want to listen to the interview.

- Heupel got jobbed because the OU fans wanted blood and it was Josh or Stoops' brother. He thought JH did quality work and was the scapegoat for an 8 win season.
- Heupel runs a Power spread, which is obviously what Odom wants to run since he's recruiting fullbacks.
- He much prefers to work with pocket "Marlboro Man" style QBs.
- He doesn't typically abandon the run and likes to be flexible.

This all sounds like a marriage made in heaven to what Barry Odom, the fans and Drew Lock want and need.

Probably have to wait until after the BOC tomorrow or Friday. Don't know the BOC schedule, but sometime tomorrow or Friday they will approve Odom's deal including the salary pool for the assistants. Last year that was over 3 million for the 8 assistants.

My God, can you imagine our coordinators with recruiting roots from Alabama and Oklahoma. No more settling for leftovers and losing Missouri's best prospects.

Please get this done.

Would be great.

Like most I think Heupel is a done deal, or close too it.

Lupoi I think will be a much tougher task to land.... Anyone else hearing he turned down an offer from Georgia?

I hadn't heard that UGA wanted him as a DC. That will be the key with getting Lupoi, this would be an advancement of his career.

I'm really starting to get on board with Odom. If he lands these two coordinators, hecs already raising the bar. Demanding to keep instate players first, saying he wants coaches who can recruit as well as coach. I'm liking this. It's worth the wait for a rebuild. If Odom can get his coordinators.

I wouldn't have picked the younger staff out of the gate, but now that I see it, I'm on board.

Lots of new blood and hunger. Good stuff.

I think that's the biggest thing about Pinkel stepping down, he's letting guys who are still trying to make their names get into the fray. The status quo bullshite is gone.
