Josh Heupel Offensive Style

Heupel does great work with QB's which leads me to believe he will also be QB's coach. (Turned Sam Bradford into Heisman trohpy winner/ two time champion, Landry Jones)
Though it was interesting in the press conference when Odom was asked what type of offense he would run, and he said, "Over the years I've been taking notes on what types of offenses have given our defenses problems in the past." Heupel ran mostly a spread hurry up offense at Oklahoma focused on power running game with double tight end sets. Also he ran a lot of play action once he established the run so it will be interesting to see if we runa similar style offense that Oklahoma runs. I recall getting our shite pushed in by Oklahoma multiple times, and having trouble keeping up with the pace they were running at plus they generated a shite ton of points.

The more I think about it. The more Id like to go to a pro style offense. I watched the Big 10 title game last night and I miss that kind of football.

Pass on the types of offenses. I would like an offense somewhat like WKU has. They use a bunch of NFL passing concepts.

We need the style of offense that will produce wins in the SEC. Modified spread with pro elements, IMO. Big RBs to establish the run. QB that can manage a game and air it out to big receivers. An OL that can protect the QB and open solid running lanes. Fast pace. And lots of different looks and sets to keep defenses guessing.

Problem is I don't think Mizzou has the OL talent to run a power running style of offense.

That's sounds a lot like what WKU runs. Mizzou can do more because it has higher caliber athletes.

I'd love to run what Michigan St runs.

I'm still haunted by that 2007 game to this day. That was supposed to be the year we moved up to a tier 2 or maybe even tier 1 program.

Does Heupel's offense utilize the zone blocking scheme?
The scheme will likely dictate the OL coaching hire too.

2008 was a worse loss to me because it was just confirmation that we couldn't compete with OU.

No thanks. I don't want to see 4 years of Bielema wandering in the wilderness.

We wouldn't have to break it in in the West though. The East is in shambles and we will have a strong defense to lean on.
We need to get tougher imo

Hueppel is a Leach disciple. Look at what OU ran this year, that's the offense that Hueppel has been wanting to run. He's is flexible enough to adapt to personnel.

I prefer a balanced, pro style offense.

I prefer one that scores touchdowns preferably lots of them. The RB from Stanford had more touchdowns and yards than the entire Mizzou offense this year.
Even a large number of NFL teams are adapting spead concepts. It's because it works.

And a place kicker that only has extra-point range.

When did Huepel coach with Leach? That would really turn me off if he ran Leach's system.

Leach was his OC when Huepple was the QB at OU. Win a title there.
