His resume as OC is much better than Odom's as HC.

Fair enough, but he was fired by his alma mater just 1 year ago and Utah St did not exactly set the world on fire in his 1 year there.

Like I said, I just don't know.

Utah St did play most of the year with a backup QB.
Hueppel is not really known as a recruiter other QBs.
There are other OCs that I like more, but he may be the best available.

What about Littrell? Was he offered the NTexas job? Wasn't he a possibility too?

Littrell is taking the North Texas job. Combie has been mentioned, but I think Texas wants him. Cumbie and Littrell are both Leach guys. It's amazing the number coaches out there that are coming from the Leach coaching tree.

It sounds like Odom is going to staff, operate, recruit and style of play like an XII team within the SEC.

Should make for an interesting case study.

I sure hope not and I don't think he'll do that at all.

We already have a case study for that. A&M.

We have to be able to run the ball, possess the ball, play field position, play defense. Use effective play action. Play tough. That's how you win in the SEC.

Basketball on grass won't work.

Mizzou won 2 SEC East titles with players that were primarily recruited to play in the Big 12. Elite offenses are really the same regardless of conference. The same is true for elite defenses. Control the LOS and you win.

I think the difference is where they got those guys. Mizzou wins with Missouri and Texas guys, not scraps from Georgia or Florida.

It is kind of weird that almost none of our GA/FL recruits are major contributors besides Culkin and Brown.

Kind of new to the area though. A renewed focus on Texas is warranted though imo.

Yet. Give that time to develop. We don't have a lot of those guys yet, and some have been battling injuries.

Ross, Wilson, Brown, & Smith all from Georgia have a good chance at starting to be producers for Mizzou next year. Also a few of the Florida guys will as well. And I agree we need to refocuse of Texas. It's not a coincidence that we started targeting Texas guys after Odom came back.

Even though we question results, Ish Witter from Florida plays a lot. As does Walter Brady from Alabama. Paul Adams and Corey Fatoney are from Tennessee.

Who is the freshman LB from Monte Verde? Same school as Ben Simmons. There was some talk that he could avoid a redshirt, play as a rush specialist. He could be in a position to play next year.

No doubt Odom will add someone to the staff that has ties to the Deep South.

I read somewhere he was looking at the LB coach from Alabama as a staff addition, but I don't know in what capacity. I still haven't heard much about a potential DC. Phil Pitts was mentioned, but I don't see how he'd move from an analyst to DC. It's sort of the same argument - do we find an experienced DC, or a hot, up-and-coming position coach ready to advance? I think I'd prefer a veteran for that role right now.

Depends on how the staff shakes out. If Ford stays on the defensive side I could see him being the DC. Won't really matter who it is as I see Odom having the DC running his defense.
