A serious question. Was talking to my step-dad, and he said all signs point to Muschamp being announce between today and Monday. So, why still interviewing?

At this point, I don't think anyone knows what we're doing and the reasons behind our actions.

Willie Taggart doesn't seem like a bad coach. I'm sure there is some who don't want boom. they probably are shaking all trees before they take boom as thier guy.

As the only UGA fan, in an all SC family, I have been hearing all kinds of rumors.....

Isn't there a thing where if you're looking for a coach you have to at least interview one minority coach? Or is that just in the NFL? Might be why.

pretty sure that is correct.

From what I understand, Muschamp has to stay with Auburn until midnight tonight to not owe any money.
Ray is covering all bases and doing his best to talk to anyone he can before the deal goes through soon.

Not true. His buyout ended after their last game. It would have ended at midnight tonight had they been in the SECCG

Good catch. I haven't personally seen the contract and that makes more sense.

None of us know. This has been such a mess, that it's entirely possible that Taggart gets an offer, and turns it down.

I think I remember posting it somewhere in the other thread, but maybe not.
SC is a state funded school held to strict EEOC hiring standards and practices. Therefore if someone applies and their resume meets the publicized criteria and provided the resume arrived prior to a cutoff date, then the applicant must be granted an interview ESPECIALLY if they are considered a member of a protected class.

To make Will look more desirable. He could potentially be the guy we need but the fan base will not be excited for his hire until he names an all star staff.

The only mess is what has been created by message board posters. What are we supposed to do? IF Herman was our top choice, he turned us down. What can we do? IF Smart was our second choice, he turned us down for Georgia. What can we do? Did we offer Richt? Would you want him? As far as available candidates right now, who is the best for our program and would they accept this job?

Yeah people are freaking out. Think I heard most coaches are hired between the 4th and the 7th of this month. We aren't even at Tanner's initial deadline. People are impatient.

The USC brand has been damaged during this search process. I'm not upset with the fact that we missed on our first two choices. That happens. I don't like that SO much of this process has played out in the press. Constant news of interviews (especially candidates such as Schiano, who could've been interviewed already) this late in the game makes it appear that USC is non-committal, or undesirable from Tier 1 candidates.
Compound this with the other openings that have been filled, quickly and silently (UVA, VaTech), and looks bad from the outside. The only way this makes USC look good from the outside is if we wind up hiring a guy who was coaching today, such as Brohm or Dantonio. If it's Muschamp on Monday, there will be groans about why this wasn't done last week. And those are pretty valid, as the only reason to wait for a coach who's currently unemployed is to swing for another coach working today who turns you down.
I'm not necessarily disappointed in the Muschamp hire. I think he could be a good fit here, and he needs us the way we need him. But from a PR standpoint, this is pretty ugly for the rest of the off-season. All will be forgiven, however, if Muschamp has USC in the East hunt next year.

I was trying to convey just that Conway.

Yeah, this has been an absolute disaster unless we actually have someone locked up who is coaching this weekend. I'm not wild about Muschamp if he is the guy, but at the very least, he can recruit like a madman and should restore our D to national prominence. If he can make a homerun OC hire, he could do well. Worst case scenario is he restocks the cupboard with talent for the next coach if he fails.
