HS recruits, do NOT follow assistant coaches

Recruiting has turned into being more about relationships than the schools and degrees these days. These kids need to be educated on the process, unfortunately, few of them have the support group or right people in their ear to help them.
Let's use Auburn for example. They are a mess right now, and I know first hand they had multiple kids follow WM and TRob last year. Now it's looking like neither return to Auburn, and the kids that went there will be playing for new coaches who they don't know. AU is just one of many examples, but the recruiting process needs to be tweaked. I think LESS contact allowed from the coaches and more dead periods are needed. Only allowing the prospect to reach out to the coaches and schools when THEY want to.
What do y'all think? Is the recruiting process past repair now? It's a complete shite show now, until the last 3 weeks before NSD.

The problem isn't recruiting. These kids are getting a full ride scholarship to play football. They aren't receiving an academic scholarship, therefore, they don't care about that aspect of the school as much as they care about who is coaching them in football. Of course this isn't the case for every kid but it is the majority. Changing the way recruiting works isn't going to single handedly change the way a 17 or 18 year old kid thinks when they receive a scholarship to play football.

Sure it would. They would put more emphasis on the school itself rather than coaches. Unfortunately, these kids are not smart enough to look at how many people actually make it to the NFL. They all think they are good enough.

I mean, yea, but can you blame them? I agree with what you're saying completely but these kids are building close relationships with these coaches. They're talking everyday (whether they're supposed to or not) and it's hard for an 18 year old to just remove the relationships they build from the equation.

Pretty much. Just to hard to control with social media.

Dear recruits, go wherever the hell you want to, for whatever reason you want to.
Don't listen to grown men on the Internet try to tell you what to do

I agree with you, although I'm sure you're aware how that helps Florida more then Arkansas.
It's actually been about the coaches for a long time, even though fans usually think differently.

maybe other sec coaches don't care about academics but bret demands that his kids go to every class and make good grades or he will get rid of them. example: Jojo Robinson and kendrick Edwards and randy ramsey

It is a shitshow, and I don't think you can fix that or regulate it. Social media has turned it into something of a circus. The recruits love being the sideshow and fans love having access to them thinking they can o,any a role in where they attend.
I think a good portion of players have always picked schools based on coaches, but we just didn't have access to the process like we do now. However, I do think it has increased because the NFL gig is on all their minds. What coaches are sending kids to the league? Schools are pushing it more than ever in their recruitment marketing.
It won't change like you want it to. I agree with you btw, but shitshow it will be.

Or we could just treat them like normal students and not lock them down with LOI's and difficult transfer rules.
