OC Candidates - Who ya got?

If Smart is indeed the man as reports indicate, then I think we'll be fine defensively and in the S&C Dept. Guessing he definitely keeps Rocker. Would love to keep Pruitt, but that's a cherry on top at this point.
The hire that will tell the tale is OC. So far, and I may have missed something, but I've only heard four rumored guys:
(1) Tyson Helton - WKU OC/QB
(2) Doug Meacham - TCU Co-OC/IWR
(3) Billy Napier - Bama WR
(4) Dan Werner - OM Co-OC/QB
Pretty much all I want is a relatively creative guy who specializes in coaching QBs and has some experience as an OC. If we are looking from the pool above, that rules out Napier (primarily WR/TE) and Meacham (primarily OL) for me. If we could somehow sway Napier into coming over and coaching TE or WR while getting the Recruiting Coordinator title, then that would be amazing.
I could really get behind either Werner or Helton.
Werner seems to get the most out of his QBs from what I can tell. He has plenty of experience at the SEC level. Older compared to Helton, but not ancient by any means. Him being older may benefit this staff. Squeezed all he possibly could out of Bo Wallace. Kelly's play has really surprised me this year.
Helton has obviously produced some high octane passing offenses at WKU. Top 10 in Total O this year and top 5 in Scoring. Top 5 in total O last year and Top 10 in scoring. The drawback to Helton for me is that he may be a bit too inexperienced where we already have a first year HC, but you can only get experience in one way.
Neither features a rushing attack that strikes fear into anybody, but neither have the RB talent we currently have at our disposal either.
I believe it to be of the utmost importance that we hire an OC w/ experience who is a very good QB coach. If we do that, play D and recruit like I would expect under Kirby, then I think we'll be in good shape.
What say you? Would you be satisfied w/ either Helton or Werner? Has anybody else been mentioned that I'm leaving out? Do you see it being a coach completely different than the aforementioned four?

My boys from the mountains who know Napier sing his praises but to keep Eason I think we need somebody with more of a rep. He'd be a helluva recruiter though.

Helton is intriguing. His QB passed for +4,000 yards and 42 TDs vs 6 ints with a completion% of over 70%.
That is strong sauce. Plus he is no pure spread, but will line up 1 to 2 TEs and 2 RBs.
There is not a QB in the SEC that is close to any of that save the Ole Miss QB who is within earshot of yardage, but has 27 TDs.
I know, I know, not SEC Ds, but still, that kind of shite is hard to do against air.
Hire that guy and you could sit down Eason and ask him if he would like to lead the SEC and nation in yardage and TDs with a straight face.
The point on no SEC experience is a valid one though.

Helton would be my pic, but that doesn't mean shite. Smarts history revolves around relationships when he selects someone so look who he's worked with in the past to find the future.

There's some talk about Helton joining his big brother on the west coast but more as a QB coach than an OC.

Thought about him. He already slept with a trainer on UT's staff while there though. It went public. I doubt he happens.

This is the hire that might make or break Kirby. I'd like Helton but most likely I'd say Napier.

Tyson Helton and I started a thread about him a couple of weeks back!

Some folks were saying that Napier didn't want to come to UGA, but it was totally unsourced. I'm in on Helton. He's our best chance at getting some fresh blood into the equation.

1. Tyson Helton
2. Dan Werner
3. Brent Key
In that order.

I just read that Hilton didn't even call the plays in that offense. Apparently the head coach calls all the plays like Richt did when he first came to Georgia.
I really would like an OC that has OC experience and also has experience at calling plays.

Why the love for Brent Key? UCF's offense was abysmal this year. That seems like the kind of hire that would stop some of this momentum from the Smart hire.
