Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas are much better programs since 2011, which was the last time LSU was relevant. Les benefitted from a division with three programs going through some dark days and eventually finding great coaches to bring their teams back to relevancy. Combine that with the influx of money from the SEC and the conference from top to bottom has never been tougher.

LSU will always be a solid program bc they are the only sec program in a state full of talent, but the days of 10 win seasons are over.

I agree with this, up until the part about 10 win seasons being over.

the 2011 LSU team would have beaten this years Ole Miss team 52-3 once again.

This is all true. Which is all the more reason we need a fresh perspective at the head coaching spot, as our current coach has no adjusted his approach in the last 4-5 years one iota.

Doubt it. You can go 5-3 in the SEC and win 10 games. And if we make the right hire not only will we win 10 games, we'll win more than that.

Arkansas lost to Toledo.

Ole Miss lost to Memphis.

But yeah, y'all are way better now.

Most of your OP is right

We need to catch up to the X's and O's coaching advantage that the rest of the west (except A&M) has over us.

SO only other schools are allowed to get a coach that better uses said talent?

I think you needed to be relevant in the past in order to get "back to relevancy." Just saying that your perception of the thing is fundamentally skewed.

I guess Urban Meyer didnt do that at Florida or ohio State.
Jimbo Fisher with both florida and miami a mess.
Chip kelly at Oregon.
Gene Chizik won with Cam Newton and was a shite show when he graduated.
This is Les Miles tenure at LSU in a nutshell. Anything he did positive had outside influences; anything that went wrong was because of him. for 11 years and never once did he lose his cool at being disrespected.

At least he didnt invent a disease to quit. These others didnt deal with the largest city become the third largest over night or a former coach at LSU taking the bama gig.

What an advantage for Saban that he knew all the high school coaches in Louisiana when Miles was still trying to shake hands. Miles dug in and with just a few breaks couldve really had a run. Certainly he was fortunate as well in a few things and this is not to take away anything that Saban has accomplished.

But I do agree with your overall premise that LSU is just an above average program at best unless they get a great coach or great QB. Some of the faithful think LSu sits on a burial ground or something and will win regardless of coach.

Ehhh, the Toledo and Memphis test says that's a lie. The sec west is not getting better.

I won't argue with the other west teams getting better, but if you can't see the LSU had been in decline you aren't paying much attention.
