Alabama has won more national championships in the last 25 years than the vast majority of college football programs out there. Since 1990 we have won more national crowns than anyone out there.
Since 1990:
Alabama - 4
Nebraska - 3
Florida State - 3
Florida - 3
LSU - 2
Miami - 2
Ohio State - 2
Since 1990:

Or as y'all do in Tennessee, have an arse funnel in one hand and a sixer of Natty Light in the other....

It really is intellectually dishonest to compare LSU then to LSU now, for a multitude of reasons. LSU didn't pump the money into the program to maximize the natural resources of this state, which whether you like it or not, is the top NFL producing state per capita with no major program to split with. The institution of the "tradition fund" and creation of TAF all started the growth at the turn of the century. LSU now all of a sudden had money to build facilities, expand the recruiting budget, and attracted the top coaches (LSU has the highest paid staff). The results? Two National championships, 4 SEC championships, BCS bowl births etc. LSU is now a place that, yes like Alabama, can succeed at the highest level with the right coach. To ignore that is just simply dishonest.
However, the quote from that booster isn't a fair appraisal of the situation. No program is above down years, and no program can reasonably "expect" to win national championships on a dynastic level. It's rare and takes the combination of those resources, and the right coach (see alabama). What LSU fans are mad about is, what appears to be two straight years of being ranked outside the top 25. A 13-11 SEC record over the last 4 years. When you watch LSU, even in wins, you wonder how prepared or well-coached they are. LSU is constantly mocked for this by the likes of the sec rant. LSU is 1-10 as the underdog the last 4 years. The list goes on and on.
The totality of those things make it unacceptable for LSU fans going forward. It's pretty obvious where Miles is taking us, and hell yea we think we can do better.

So? The hell you telling me for?
LSU needs to give Miles a few more years and he could theoretically turn into the Bear per you

In typical ESPN fashion, this has been greatly misrepresented.
What was originally said was,"we expect to COMPETE for national championships". Not expect them exclusively.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. I did not compare Les to the Bear, I merely stated that even the greatest of coaches got into slumps every now and again. And I believe someone in that thread posted their records after their first 145 games at their respective schools. They were surprisingly comparable.

Les than a month ago LSU was ranked #2. Currently has arguably the #1 recruiting class.
Somehow that seems like "competing" for a NC.
Teams lose focus and get beat sometimes. ADs jump the gun and get rid of proven coaches... Texas and Tennessee come to mind.
Now if LSU promotes Coach O to head ball coach, it'll be on like Donkey Kong.

Where does Miles fit into this?

LSU is not headed toward better times with Les, and you know this.

Did you know that LSU is currently UNRANKED and recruiting rankings don't mean you're competing for ANY hardware. LSU has lost by double digits 3 games in a row for the first time since the 60s.

I say again, LSU has lost by double digits 3 games in a row for the first time since the 60s.

Les Miles accounts for 1/3 of their national championships. Hopefully this will be like Tennessee without Fulmer, Miami without Coker, or Texas without Mack Brown. This never works out and I am happy about this.

You forgot Ole Miss without Cutcliffe

How can you compare LSU of the past to where it is now?
You don't think programs change?
You don't think the culture of a program changes?

In Alabama you expect National Championships and season ticket with our wives/sisters. You know!!!
Posted on 11/24/15 at 2:09 pm to Riseupfromtherubble
Uh, after they won 2 national championships and were in another one in 2011. I guess gumps think only people from Alabama should expect to compete for championships.

We expect national championships too...but only get our expectations met in the non-Big 3 sports.
