As much as I would like to see Patterson, Herman, or Fuente hired, I think the best move and most seamless transition would be to promote Odom. We could then promote Kul to DC and promote future HOFer, Justin Smith, to DL coach. Henson would then have one year to show major improvement in the offense before looking for a new OC.

I think I'm in the minority but we have no clue how well coach Kul could coach a whole defense. We know that he's the best positional coach in the country, but we have no idea if he can call a defensive game and coach up other parts of the ball. In a perfect world he would remain the D-line coach with a nice pay raise but that's unlikely

Not being critical, but that is the safe hire. And probably less money. But hiring a inexperienced HC has more risk regardless of their program knowledge. The SEC is not a "coach training" conference.

My crystal ball is broken, darn it. AD Rhoades does not have a pick yet for the first interview. Way too early. Lots of speculation and it's only starting. Let's track some airplanes first.

My "pick" is someone with HC experience preferably in P-5.

And everybody that wants to keep Odom, Kul, and etc. Get ready to lose them. Odds are they are all gone. New HC's want to hire their own and rightfully so. Just the facts. Andy Hill was the only hold-over to make Pinkel's staff.

How deep the program digs into their pocket will demonstrate the commitment to football. It's time for Rhoades to earn his paycheck.

I do know this will be interesting and a pivotal moment for the program.

We are a .500 team with an offense that has not been very good the last 2 years. Why is there a push for continuity?

This is my "safe" dream scenario as well, but if hiring Odom means keeping Henson/Ricker/etc., I'd rather Rhoades look elsewhere.

It's clear the defensive staff has been able to identify and develop SEC caliber talent, but the offensive side has been steadily eroding since we left the XII. If it's talent or coaching I don't know, but the quality of the OL, RB and WR talent has hit rock bottom and I'm not sure giving Henson & Co. another year is going to change anything.

And if Odom doesn't have strong ideas about the kind of offense he wants to run and the coaches to run it, I hope Rhoades expands the scope of his search.

So does anyone know if Kul would stay with a promotion to DC? Even if it's a promotion in name only?
