The thing that worries me about next year is that we don't really have anyone who is consistent. Dunans and maybe Harris are the closest ones we've had. Everyone else is either on fire or completely absent.

We have to have a PG. Having Dunans play that position is really taking away what he's best at doing. Purifoy should be able to score from anywhere and Heron is supposed to be really good at getting to the basket.

I've seen Harper play and I think he'll be able to play right away. I'm most worried about getting another big guy to help inside with defense and rebounding.

Little dude from Georgia (forget his name) is a helluva true point. Just SMALL, which is (of course) always a worry.

Harper and you are 100% right. He has all the skill to play at this level but unless he gets on the deer antler spray I wouldn't feel comfortable counting on more than 15 minutes a game out of him. We need an experienced starting PG so we aren't in this same position next year. There will be plenty available from JC or graduate transfer route so finding one shouldn't be a problem.

Are we going to have any APR issues? With attrition and unusual situations like Alex Thompson/Reed missing semesters, it is something that should probably be talked about

This season went as poorly as it could have. The only way it could be worse is if some NCAA troubles were to arise.

Can we celebrate that it's Bowers' last game?

I agree. The team looked unmotivated and unprepared.

https://www.seccountry.com/auburn/auburns-bruce-pearl-assessed-technical-foul-while-yelling-at-sec-officiating-coordinator

quote:

Sounds like Pearl dealt a little truth about officiating to the Commish and the b-ball officiating coordinator.

Facing a 32-point deficit in the second half of Auburn’s SEC tournament game against Tennessee, Tigers coach Bruce Pearl let loose.

But instead of going the traditional route — yelling at the game officials — Pearl turned his attention toward a pair of SEC bigwigs sitting courtside: conference commissioner Greg Sankey and basketball officiating coordinator Jake Bell.

Referee Tony Greene whistled Pearl for a technical foul in the middle of the coach’s rant, which was unintelligible, animated and hurled directly at Sankey and Bell.

quote:

“I just thought it was a foul. That’s what I said, ‘That’s a foul,’ ” Pearl said after the game when asked about the moment.

Sure, Bruce.

Surely Bruce isn't the only SEC coach who feels our officiating is wildly inconsistent when compared with other conferences.

Officiating had nothing to do with our arse kicking but yeah, officiating in the Sec is garbage

This loss is on the outgoing seniors as well.... Good Riddance to them. How do you get on all fours and take it in your last collegiate game? Doesn't make sense to me.

Can we have this thread unpinned and just forget this season ever happened.

Conferences don't have their own officials like football. It's not an SEC issue. It's a college basketball issue. The big games are better officiated because better teams are playing and are given more leeway.

WDE, the forum insider on AUF, says people around the program aren't optimistic that Pearl will be back.
