Thank the Almighty. Now maybe all the racial slurs will disappear for ever on the Mizzou campus.

How can the President of a university be able to control the locals??
All Missouri natives know that the Boone County locals have been involved in most (not all) of these types of incidents. The locals will always be at odds with the "rich college kids" no matter what their color is.

Statewide, klansmen are burning their sheets and enrolling in social work classes; middle-aged white executives are flocking to buy baggy pants, 4 sizes too large; and "Dixie Cups" have been re-branded to "Black Lives Matter Cups."
All is right in the world.
All is right in the world.

So what other horrible things did Wolfe do to warrant his resignation or was this the only thing?

i didn't realize i could post here.
i am truly sorry for what is going on there now. i wouldn't wish that mess on any school or it's students or fans.
not that i think that was the right move at all but hopefully since the president is gone now it blows over very soon and things can get somewhat get back to normal.
good luck.

Given that Boone County is in the middle of "Little Dixie" or the Kingdom of Callaway (where Kingdom City gets its' name)the local politics are pretty well ingrained.

Boone County voted for a black president in both 2012 and 2008.
Do some of y'all even think before you post?

Technically Boone County did do that. More specifically though, Columbia voted that way. Once you left the city limits the map went quite red. There is a huge divide between the University population and the local residents (that don't work for the University).

I've lived in Boone County. I'm aware of the divide. But pretending that Boone County is some outlier of racism in Missouri or the U.S. is nonsense.

Little Dixie includes 9 or 10 counties in mid-MO, depending on if one includes Cole, Moniteau, and Cooper Counties.
Columbia city politics are about as representative of the area as Chicago city's is to downstate IL.

Tim Wolfe has a corporate/technology background. Not education. And the academics believe they need an educator to lead a University system.

Then he should have never been hired in the first place if this was such an issue to some.

I think there are some who feel that way and probably never gave him a real shot. But isn't that the classic dilemma? Education, at the University level especially, is a business - it has to make money to feed the machine of research. But business people sure don't think like academics, and academics don't like that. They have to co-exist, and it can be really uncomfortable.
After the major fail that was the Elson Floyd tenure, the BOC decided to go a different direction, and hired from the private sector. At least for system president. Forsee didn't last long - I think it was health issues if I remember correctly. Wolfe has been there what, 4 years? He's a businessman who controls the purse strings to 4 campuses. He's bound to piss people off, and he did. Especially those academic fields that don't have a strong tie to the business world, like English. Just my thoughts, anyway.
