And it shows

The worst secondary performance I've seen in my life

Fire Batoon and bring back McGriff... When SP leaves the Saints after this season he will be ours for the taking.

Idkmt understand why the hell we need west coast recruits. There is enough talent from Texas to florida....... Then you can snag one or two from across the country without a freaking coach from there... It was so dumb. If freeze doesn't fire a coach this year I'm done with him. And no I don't think we can do any better than freeze so I'll just accept compass and music city bowls as Christmas gifts every year

ALL THAT DAMN TALENT!

okay thought i was done ranting but I'm not. I think some of our coaches have no passion and expect our talent to be enough against lesser teams (you know every fricking loss we have this year) and why our defense doesn't make adjustments is the dumbest thing ever. I'm okay firing wommack over that fact alone. Florida and arky could run play action 193489 times and it worked everytime. That's fricking ridiculous. It's bad when you make Matt Luke look good. Atleast he shows passion on the sideline

That is my issue. The talent is there without a doubt. The analogy I like to use is just because you have an H&K doesn't make you a better shot (with H&K = talent and shot = coach). The fact that THIS YEAR we are consistently inconsistent, seem to lack an ability to make in-game adjustments to rather simple schemes and have seemed to lost our defensive fire leads me to one conclusion: That Tom Allen was more important than we ever realized! Not sure we can get him back or if maybe somebody on the staff with a defensive pedigree can step up but Wommack isn't the defensive genius he looked like in previous years.

i agree i love mcgriff...but jason jones has done a good job recruiting and helped turn senquez around..also webster was amazing last year but i think he wasn't ready for a full year as starter and he wore down. so i want mcgriff but i want to keep jones. how is that possible?

NEW IDEA: when mizzou fires pinkel for siding with the players we hire him as DC and we get the most out of our players and pinkel can get drunk with AK. everyone wins

I would, too, as DC. However, no university administration in its right mind is going to hire him if he, in fact, takes the side of the dumbass students in this thing.

Does Pinky have a defensive pedigree? I always heard his DC was the mastermind of their D?

Maybe you're right, but Mizzou has fielded some pretty good defenses over the years.

If you are going to fire a guy, at least have a clue what you are talking about. Batoon isn't the secondary coach. He was hired to coach safeties and special teams. Hilton and Elston have probably been the two best most consistent players on the defense. Coach Jones coaches the CBs.

Batoon does have experience. He coached safeties at Arkansas St. That year they finished #1 in the sun belt in total defense and I wanna say #2 in passing defense. He has over 10 years of experience.

But hey I get it, we gotta find some random guy to be the fall guy since Luke can't be that guy any longer...smh

This.

The real person to blame is Freeze for putting his eggs in the basket of Anthony Alford and Tee Shepard. If either one of the would've lived up to the hype we wouldn't of had to play Z Woods, Kailo, Moore Twins, or Carlos Davis nearly as much this year.

We straight up fell flat on our face in that regard.

Think Alford would have been a stud had the Blue Jays not given him an offer too good to pass up. While I do think people are being irrational and putting all the blame on him, saying he coaches safeties and special teams isn't the way to defend him against criticism. Our safeties have been beaten deep on plays several times and I know Hilton got beat several times against Arkansas alone. Not to mention the fact our return game on special teams is non-existent. Besides the one late return Walton had against Arkansas, we've pretty much started inside the 25 on any kick not out of the end zone.

The real issue is that we need to recruit great coaches just as much as we recruit great athletes. It is apparent that loosing Coach Allen had a much greater impact on the D than we ever thought (all the athletes listed by Billy are SEC quality especially the Moore twins). I think Ross & CHF need to use the SEC $ to create a coaching environment where we can get young coaches to Oxford, learn their profession and build a system where we can promote from within. So enough money to increase the number of GA's for position groups and enough to fund some of those "non-field" coaching" jobs that Bama and LSU have. And for the love of all things Holy please find out what it would take to get Allen back...or promote Kiffen and get Monty on board as a "consultant".

After much debate and back and forth on the entire deal (i.e. Saturday's defensive debacle, Memphis, etc.) I've about arrived back at the conclusion I'd still rather us be in the 7, 8, or even 9 win range each year ideally than be so darn let's make wholesale changes because we think we can do so much better. Yea, I guess I'm prepared to settle, some of you will say, and I suppose that's true. I'm definitely prepared to settle for 8 wins total as opposed to running off the wrong folks from coaches to recruits and looking up in December sitting at home with 4 or 5 wins. There, I said it. Call me what you will.
