Would Merlins be a legitimate candidate for another HC job this year?

He's really done a great job with MSU, and this year he's probably done much better than anyone thought, considering who left after last year. He seems happy at MSU, but still seems like he doesn't fit in there (at least to me).
Lots of good job openings this year.
MSU posters - Any concerns that he would leave?

Can he get it done without the Dak attack?

The schools that are willing to match his salary have no interest. The schools that would hire him (Maryland, Va Tech maybe, Miamia, Minnesota, etc.) won't be able to compete w/ MSU money so he would really have to want to leave. If I were him, i would try to get a incentive laden contract w/ Hawaii. He already has the weak arse scheduling down.

This is literally discussed every single year, and every single year he's at MSU. He's making over $4 million and pretty much unfireable. Why would he go anywhere? Job security and he's building the program quite nicely.

Nobody is going to pay the like 15 million buyout to take him, and then pay him more than the 4.5 million a year he's averaging over the next 4.

I don't think USC will offer him, but I think he could win a national championship or two there.
