The very first highlight was a putback dunk. Sign him up.

Man Gielo is a scrub.

Good job winning 20 games and having a winning record in conference play.
Our coaching can build on that.
Do we get an NIT bid ?

I would guess not considering a lot of regular season champs lost in their conference tournament. Does anybody believe this team will be worth a shite next year? Kennedy has never had a bad team but next years roster looks like a huge rebuild year.

Moody was the best player for either team, but the next 5 or 6 best all played for Bama. No help. I hope we get an NIT bid, but man, next season is gonna be interesting if something miraculous doesn't happen. Of course Kennedy has a history off pulling of that type stuff, but still, that's what it's gonna take.

This game was decided before the tip off.
Somebody wanted all of the First year coaches to win,
Alabama shot well and neither team made free throws.
But we werent even allowed to play defense.

No hate. The guy was brought in to be a shooter. He sucked all year at shooting.

Gielo, though he seems like a very likable fella, did hit a 5 or 6 game stretch here recently where he was quite helpful, but he sure missed a ton of open looks for large chunks of the season. He hit a couple last night, but again and again he would misfire on wide open looks as Moody had drawn all the attention and dished to him to no avail. It could have been the difference in the game. Then the final straw came when Gielo (an 84 percent foul shooter) goes to the line late in the game and misses both when everything was still in the balance. Certainly not blaming it all on Gielo. We needed far more from Saiz as well, but he and Gielo needed to be a second and third option and they simply were not and have not been far too often. Woe is us.

Gielo was one of the better players on the team this year. Wish he wasn't a senior. What kills this team is that we have players like Terry Brutus, Sam Finley, and Anthony Perez on the roster. Literally a waste of bench space.
Hopefully Kennedy can recruit some solid players now.
What also killed us this year was not having a ball handler. Brooks is strictly a shooter (and a streaky one at that), Finely was a bust, and Fitzpatrick-Dorsey showed he was a frosh.

It's actually not a bad outlook for next year. Brooks, Fitzpatrick, and Hymon showed flashes all year. Sebas will average a double-double, and Deandre Burnett should be legit (AK called him the best pure scorer he's had). We should also fare better in the transfer market than years past because of the Pavilion. No more raiding the Ohio Valley for dudes like Yellow.

I really hope you guys are right. I'd hate to see that new palace be three-fourths empty some night.
Posted on 3/11/16 at 11:17 am to Insideradvantage
Sans Kentucky, most teams have half empty arenas some nights.
That's the problem with having midweek games that people don't feel like driving An hour to see with it being on tv.

Yeah, that's true, but notice I said three-fourths which is exactly what it would be if not worse if a team is really struggling. The crowds (I use that term loosely) were abysmal this season at times at State and Missouri, for example. A bunch of our fans would bolt in a heartbeat if we suck despite the facilities and the $6 milkshakes.

I'm just ready to see more development and less in the transfer department. Those guys are hit or miss. Maybe one big time transfer to go along with the young guys. But as a team it seems like we are starting over every year. Makes it really hard for a new fan to get into OM, when there never is any player recognition.

There are many reason we underachieve. Many were spotlighted on the RG podcast. Here are the issues:
1. AAU is garbage, especially in the South. AAU teams aren't teaching kids to play the game the way it has to be played. It is all revolved around 3's and dunks.
2. The talent pool is depleted. Most athletes don't play basketball in the South. They are playing football.
3. Our schedule. We have to start scheduling real teams. No more SWAC teams. I don't expect us to play a Kansas or Duke. But playing a team like Clemson or a mid major like Wichita State. Those games wouldn't hurt either team. If we did want to play a big name team, we could always use football to lure them in. Promise them a home and home in football for a home in home in basketball.
4. We have to start recruiting locally, before we can nationally. We lose out on local players a lot. Newman and Kegler are two examples. Both are headed to or played at State. Howland is out recruiting us.
I like AK, but I think we need to go a new direction. Whether that is hiring Todd Abernathy or hiring a up and coming coach. I just hope we get a yes from a good coach before we fire AK.

Todd Abernathy.....
Todd Abernathy.....
Over a coach who has more 20 win years than our programs has in its history.
ill stick with AK and hope we can start to recruit at a higher level now.
Ak is a great Coach.
