Spurrier should have taken his beatings like a man

How can people celebrate what this guy did? He was going to lose to vanderbilt, tennessee, florida, clemson so instead of taking it like a man he goes out and quits. He won for years, and now that since he is going to have a losing season he is running out. Pathetic
Can you imagine how much damage this would have done if Saban did this? His legacy would be ruined forever and would never be the same even if he went 0-12 his last year.
An expression my dad always tole me is if You got to be able to give it to someone by talking trash you better be able to take it. I guess steve could give it by winning but couldn't take losing.
Regardless of anything he should have stuck it out and taken the L's and been the bigger man. If my son signed to play football there I would be furious, complete disgrace that he couldn't take losing a few football games

you're a fricking moron. He would be putting the program in a worse position by staying on when everyone knows it's his last season.

But didn't Saban do the same at Miami? Although he didn't retire, he left his players high and dry.

A man knows when to quit.

He's accomplished more in his life time than most of us could ever dream of doing. He has earned the right to do what he wants, when he wants. And if you don't like it, Spurrier doesn't give a damn.

WHY THE frick IS EVERYONE BUT GAMECOCKNATION UP IN ARMS ABOUT THIS?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Give it a frickin' rest. Damn.

Saban did just the opposite, fool.

Yeah, he lied. Spurrier was upfront and said why he was leaving and didn't pussyfoot around it.
Saban however..."I will not be the head coach at Alabama"

One, I'm not so certain the HBC would have lost those games and two when you're a legend you get to go out how you want-- you wouldn't get that because outside of baseball LSU hasn't had any legendary coaches in your lifetime-- I guess maybe Nick, but he's more of a Bama guy.

Quote - LSU made that azz quit.
Do you fools have to make every thread about you? If you listened to his press conference, the decision was made clearer after UCF.

SOS puss factor high!
3-1 against Saban despite coaching at USCe (you can say the school doesn't matter if you want- I mean if you want to argue that Bama and USCe are pretty much equal programs be my guest).

SOS lied to his team. He lied to their parents. And then he quit like a bitch. You guys can lap up his shite sandwich all you want. I have no skin in the game.

He should have announced retirement for end of season then took it like a MAN!
His legacy to me will be one of a once great coach, but an even more accomplished smartass.
Yeah, I do agree. If you are going to resign, do it at the end of the season. He owed that to the players he recruited and who came to play for him.
Walking away mid season because he doesn't want to finish the season, lessens his legacy IMO.
