I know, frick Oliver.

But he made a good point on the radio today.

When people have reservations about coaching changes, one of the rebuttals is "who do we hire?"

His answer is "Who couldn't win 9 games a year at UGA?"

Donnan averaged 8.something wins a year, and now Richt averages 9.something

Why are we so afraid?

You have to be more specific with these people. Remember, the 12th cupcake game was added during Richts tenure, it is slightly misleading to compare him to Donnan. Its better if you compare losses like I did in the other thread.

Donnan: 3.8 losses per year
Richt: 3.2 lpy
2010-2014 Richt: 4.2

Donnan didn't have an extra game, or he may well have averaged nine wins a year....

If such a wager were possible, I'd bet that Chef Leppard as head coach could keep us bowl eligible.

In the current environment the charge holds merit.

Donnan was fired because of his records against our rivals or the historical powers of the SEC. Granted, in the past decade, UT has been WAY down, UF has been down, Auburn has been very middling with the exception of couple really good teams and couple of really bad teams, and Tech has only put together a couple of good teams. Richt has feasted on those teams teams being down compared to when Donnan was a coach.

If it wasn't for Richt's record vs GT, Auburn, and lately against UT, then I think he'd have been fired already. UF still is a bugaboo, but he's beaten them more than previous 2 coaches combined.
