Is being right worth it in a relationship?

I have to ask this question because recently I had a bit of a disagreement with my girlfriend regarding language.
As everyone knows, I live in Mexico -- where people are extremely proud of their language and how it stacks up against English. I know for a fact that if we're counting vocabulary, English beats Spanish by at least 2 - 1, with estimates as high up as 4 - 1 simply because English is comprised of: Latin, Greek, French and a litany of German words. (It is technically a Germanic language)
The conversation ended in a restaurant, but as an English teacher it irks the frick out of me because I hear this all the time. "Spanish has more words.", by all of my students, and it's simply not true.
Is it worth it? Probably not in my case, but as an overlying idea, is it ever worth it, or should you just leave it?

When it comes to arguing with a woman... even when you win, you lose.
