MSU Trying To Make Dak More Of A Pocket Passer...

Could be the difference in this game. He is not running nearly as much as he did last year. I honestly hope that trend continues. They have an inexperienced O-Line that Hall and MG15 could expose if they stick to what they have been doing.
However, if they run alot of QB draws or let him run like he did last year this could be a long night of begging our defense for a stop to get the ball back to our O.
So do you think they are going to stick with trying to keep him in the pocket and protected (I would assume they will at least try that the first half) or are they going to dust the pages off last years play book and take their chances on the ground?
I have no clue how this game is going to turn out, but I think this game is going to be completely different between the first and second half especially if we have a double digit lead at half.
TL;DR version.
We go up 21-10 at half (MSU sticks to their Pocket Pass Dak gameplan they have used so far this season) 2nd half they scrap the game plan, come out and let him run, meanwhile Spav goes back to run run pass offense trying to preserve the lead even if the ground game isnt effective and MSU climbs back in and we have to win on the final drive of the game 35-34 (Extra Point hits the upright but bounces in for the win)

I think if they could or would run him more they certainly would have done so for the LSU game in the 1st half

I think the injury rumors might have some merit, they are intentionally keeping him in the pocket almost exclusively.

Could it be something similar to what we saw from Johnny in year 2. Much more intentional about staying in pocket (possibly with intent to show pro potential)

Johnny still had like 800 yards rushing and we ran about 5 designed QB runs a game. I think Johnny was more a case of a QB getting more comfortable going through his reads as opposed to quickly taking off, and honestly it might have hurt our offense a bit. We were better with him taking off after one or two reads in 2012 just because he was so amazing at it.
MSU appears the be actively avoiding getting Dak hit.

And remember Johnny was banged up a bit it in year two

Yup.
Although this is one of those games I think would be perfect for them to deviate from their M.O.

I think its a guarantee that state is going to test the middle of our defense after the hog game.
However, one encouraging thing about last weekend is that while Collins had a healthy YPC, we never allowed the big 15+ yard runs due to our safety play.
I can see state allowing Dak to run some draws and let Holloway and Shumpert attack the gut a little but I think we will be better prepared.
I will say this, our corners are going to be tested this game, a lot. Wilson is 6'5" and very physical.
