So where are all the supposed solid recruits?

I trust GP when he says the guys he's playing give the team the best opportunity to win. But on offense, with as bad as nearly every unit is playing, it means that the following must be recruiting busts because they are worse than what's on the field. I'm not going to count true freshmen as a bust because they're so new to the program.
OL
Bailey
Chappell
McNulty
Abeln
Adams
Fairchild
Cuellar
Pendleton
Rhodes
Bauer
I know I included some starters in here but because they're interchanging. Bottom line is, if none of these guys can do a better job of blocking than the current group, we better be landing some studs in the future. Just think about it. All of these supposedly coveted recruits are actually worse, currently, than the current starters.
WR
Wingo
DiLosa
Richard
Blair
TE
Jason Reese
Kendall Blanton
Probably the most solid unit on offense, but for all the hype, where are these guys? Reese had a catch or 2 filling in for Culkin and frankly, I can understand how they haven't passed Culkin. He's played decently.
RB
Steward
Abbington
Walters
Steward and Walters are through no fault of their own. Abbington is worse than Witter? Think about that for a second.
QB
Corbin Berkstresser
Eddie Printz
Marvin Zanders
If you can't give us a better chance at winning than a QB with a 50% completion percentage and a horrendous TD to INT ratio, well, there's your sign. Won't say no more.

The OL guys have to get a pass because something is really wrong there coaching wise.
Nobody could move up at QB, Pinkel only has eyes for Mauk. Maybe he has pics of Pinkel in a compromising position. So I give them a pass also.
Poor quarterbacking effects the wrs, so they also get a pass.
Culkin has actually been catching the ball well this year.
My question is, when do the offense position coaches really get held responsible. Whether missing on recruiting or poor coaching, both are their responsibility,

Lots of past WRs have had problems with drops earlier in their career.
Hunt, Lucas, Sasser, & even Maclin.
This group has been open pretty consistent. And that's with the team hardly using the middle of the field.
I suspect next year & the year after the passing game will be good. If Lock is the QB then it should also be efficient.

We missed on 3 in-state WR in the 2012 class that could be be starting now.
1. D. Neal SR @ Oklahoma
2. B Shepard JR. @ Okiahoma St
3. Jehu Chesson SR @ Michigan

The talent is there for the OLine, the issue is they are playing in new positions and have not adapted yet.
There is no LT on this team, that's the fact. Since this is the case we have McGovern playing LT when he shouldn't which fricks up the entire line.

Any good position coach is very hard to keep around as we saw with coach Kul, so it's hard for me to blame position coachese

Reedus...super good points and analysis. Most excellent, especially the OL.
"surgicalvenom, The OL guys have to get a pass because something is really wrong there coaching wise." You are half right IMHO. The actual players are not doing their jobs either.
"TigerCruise", in one line you say "the talent is there". In the very next line you say "there is no LT on the team." Talk about contradiction. You wrote the book on losing credibility with your contradiction. I do agree with your second line.

But we have had our WR, RB and QB coaches for a long time. There is no way in hell these 3 positions should be this bad. The defense thrives on coaching players up, the offense just waits until they recruit high level talent. Give them good talent and ask them to coach them up, and you get this mess. Now Ricker is following that script with the OL.

I think that's kind of my point. I don't believe we lack so much talent that no one is better. It's gotta either be coaching or coaching recruiting guys who are no better than the on field product

Diamonds in the rough take a lot of polishing eh? Anyway I agree, too many 2-3 star recruits coming in w/ expectation of having 2-3 years to get game ready, it's not a sound strategy and Pinkel better realize it if he doesn't want to spend his last 5 years coaching struggling .500 teams.

Yea wasn't Echard on the depth chart earlier? Not sure if he's still on the team, didn't we recruit another 3 star TE last year though? Coaches need to get a fire lit under their butts, including getting these kids to show up in shape ready to play.

Well the RB's were supposed to be good because of Strong, and Abbington. So there were supposed to be 2 4-star running backs. I don't know what exactly the problem was with Abbington besides academics getting him there late.
Is Cuellar just not good? He and Howell were supposed to step in.

Howell didn't make it to camp on time, due to academics, not sure why Cuellar isn't out there already, figured to see him too. It's no surprise Crawford won a starting job, he's the best cut lineman on the team outside of Harold Brantley.
Abbington hasn't looked that bad when he has been on the field, but the RB rotation schedule is as weird as the QB one. We also recruited another 4 star RB, Dougherty.
The ironic thing is, the 2 "solid" freshman we've seen out there, Lock and Beckner are among the best players on the team.
