To be fair to Stonehog and Sleepy...what if you found out they were right?

Before you allow your emotions to dictate an angry response post, remember this thread is just a "what if" thread.
But really, what if you found out one day that our government and "shadow governments" in fact orchestrate awful events or fake events to push agendas? What if you came upon indisputable evidence that mass atrocities were committed to undermine our way of life?
What if you suddenly found out that our government not only has lied to us countless time in our past, but also our government values our lives no differently than we values an ant's life? We are just cattle being fattened for whatever purpose our government chooses - and sometimes that purpose is slaughter.
How would you react if you discovered a large portion of conspiracy theories were actually true?

Probably wouldn't really care.

His thread is as fake as Sandy Hook.
I don't think people could or would want to wrap their heads around the fact their reality is far different than what they thought -- which is a reason this stuff stays on the fringe. People want to fluff the bunny. They want life to continue as is, they'll subconsciously do anything it takes to prevent seeing the truth.

I don't think this is a "What If" thread

Stonehog is trolling.
Sleepy is trolling but also believes it.

Wait, maybe the shadow government is just trying to make me believe they are terrible at controlling everything by seeming to not effectively install order in the chaos? What if they are secretly making a second plan, to create more chaos so they can have more control? So they aren't controlling things or maybe they are controlling things but they are controlling them in such a way that the few people who see them controlling things aren't aware of just how much they are controlling them.
This is what I imagine runs through sleepy's head. I have no anger towards him, just mirth. His insanity is of the hilarious variety.

If someone ever had irrefutable proof (defined as proof delivered to the entire nation and immediately recognized as fact) that our government orchestrated the murder of 20 American kids or even faked it the government would be overthrown.

How would we overthrow the government? They hold all the cards...

Totally. I mean, has anyone ever overthrown a government before? I don't think so, or at least I haven't heard of it. Governments have tanks and stuff. You can't kill a tank. No sir. Not with those cold dead eyes.

Militaries overthrow governments...but that usually doesn't end well either.

You know what, in retrospect, I agree. You're right.
It's not like we've ever seen a modern superpower fall right before our very eyes and disintegrate into numerous independent nations without so much as a shot being fired.
Never seen a modern, technologically advanced country erupt into bloody, genocidal civil war.
Never seen numerous nations ruled by dictators completely willing to use modern military might against poorly armed civilians nonetheless fall to a revolution by those poorly armed civilians.
None of that has ever happened. The USSR, Yugoslavia, and the Arab spring all never happened so Killz is right.

Good to know. I think one sincere and dedicated conspiracy theorist is all the OTB can accommodate. One is entertaining. Two would be drudgery.

I hate it when people start threads that have no chance of a FOX News parroted circle jerk.

I think most rational, educated people agree that there are things our government does that would shock people if they came to light.
The difference between those people and people like ST is they don't have a pathological desire to be contrarian and seem smarter than everyone else. This mindset leads ST to argue for some things which are simply refuted by scientific and historical facts.
