Rumor About Mauk and Lock

Posted on reliable, trustworthy....not, TB:
He said some guy posted it on PM:
Not looking to drop a thread to seek fire and brimstone; however, heard info on the QB situation from a very reliable source this weekend regarding Maty Mauk, Drew Lock and Mizzou's future at the position.
Per my source, it's predetermined that Mauk will graduate in December and will transfer from the program soon thereafter. My source tells me the staff is fully aware of this and, in many ways, is supportive of this decision.
Per my source, Lock exceeded all expectations and blew the staff's mind with his high learning curve once arriving on campus. I'm told the young receiving corps gels nicely with Lock and that he's a natural leader in all facets. I'm told that in many practices, it is Drew Lock who sets the bar for QB expectations, a scenario also noticed by Maty Mauk.
Finally, I'm told the decision to pull the redshirt was made very early, which prompted Mauk to tell the staff of his future intentions after Mauk was told Lock would play a minimum of once series in EVERY game this season, with no exceptions.

IF this is true. Lock should be starting.

I agree as to why he would transfer, but don't understand the drama of transfer talk when expecting to still compete. Hope he does and believe hes a true gamer but just dont like that.

Saw this on tRant, page 1. This answers some questions I had. Why both Zanders and Printz have stuck around. Whether Mauk has a good relationship with all the young receivers. How involved Mauk's dad still is in his coaching and play. What happens when Lock beats him outright next spring.
This makes sense. However, I hate it for Mauk that it leaked this early. If true, this makes him a total lame duck this season, and that's unfortunate. He has been good for the program, and played through that injury last season. Will the receivers and the whole offense, really, play as hard for him knowing he's leaving? Tough spot for him to be in.

I know it was only one game, but Mauk still runs around like a crazy sometimes. I think the best talent should play, end of story. If that is Lock then he should get the snaps.

Gabe DeArmond replied to this on PM that he hasn't heard any such rumors and he strongly believes this rumor is not true.
When Gabe has heard smoke but can't reveal anything, he usually posts some wishy washy vague stuff. When he comes out and flat out says "I haven't heard that and it sounds like a load of BS", like he is in this case, it usually winds being BS.

I have a difficult time believing any of this.
Sounds like someone outside the program is trying to contrive controversy.

Mauk will graduate in December
I doubt this, but who knows. Doesn't seem like a "scholarly type"

Happens alot of years, so shouldn't be much of an issue.

transfer from the program
Would surprise me, but you never know. Some of his best friends (Boehm, Hansbrough) who didn't redshirt will be gone next season. So in that sense, it is plausible.
If we win the SECCG, I just don't see a scenario where Mauk wouldn't start again next season.
This seems a bit unreasonable right now. Who knows, maybe Mauk lights it up the rest of the year and goes to the NFL after winning the Heisman? Would net the same result.
Whoever posted it on the main page is definitely an alter.

At least HCGP is getting the scholar athlete. Mauk and Prince are graduating in less than 4 years. That is awesome !!

seems doubtful that he would concede midway through camp. I could see Lock winning out but not yet.

I think everyone will play hard for him, but the fans will be relentless. I don't like Finebaum in general, but recently he talked about QB "Transfer Free Agency" to avoid competition, and that would be exactly what this would be. I hope it isn't true.

I remember when Mauk got some series when Franklin was the qb and some of you were crying for Mauk and now you have him and now you are crying for Lock. Personally I don't think Lock is ready until he stops taking unnecessary sacks and learns how to avoid the pass rush. SEMO pass rush isn't Georgia's pass rush and his receivers won't be wide open like Hunt.

You don't have to be scholarly to graduate early. These guys are on campus year round taking classes.
I don't believe this rumor.
But I can see this happening in the end.
Especially when you consider Mauks brother did the same thing.
I always thought it was extremely bizarre that Mauks dad would move down here to Missouri. Weird.

Got pushed out of his old job....has family in Springfield area. Not weird.

Bit of a different situation. Ben had season ending injury and his backup won the ACC Championship. More like a Cardale Jones situation.
Maty would have to have season ending injury and Lock win SECCG to be similar situations.

mubobby needs to confirm or deny.
Until then, I'm not buying any of it.

I'm glad you have expectations of a conference title. I don't.
