I thought Bama looked a lot more like the 2008-2012 Bama teams. The last two years they haven't looked like that. Got Nuss fired after 2013 and last year was Kiffin's 1st year. Given the deficiencies last year, maybe our best chance to win was to fling it around.

Run blocking is a strength this year but I agree that pass blocking could be better. Luckily Coker looks good when rolling out of the pocket.

WTF?

I have watched Moo State play football since about 1954... but Alabama is chock full of family. I have multiple college degrees from Alabama, was born in Alabama. My younger son was 5th generation Alabama, my twin brother, sister, little brother, mother, father, step-father, grand father, grand mother, great grand father, several uncles, four aunts or great-aunts, many many cousins all went to Alabama. One distant cousin married Coach Bryant's son. I married girl from Tuscaloosa, in Tuscaloosa on the TSIO. Family of the mother of my children were closest friends with Coach Bryant and I met him many times... had several cousins play for him, and other miscellaneous itinerate coaches that came after him.

Just because I closely review the strength of other teams, such as Stah-ate, doesn't mean I'm a "fan." Truth is though, Stah-ate always plays us close and physical.

My comments are from an observational standpoint comparing this OL to 2011-2012 seasons. One thing I am proud of is that most Alabama fans are not blind, but are students of the game. If I want to get a good laugh and read "GOAT" crap, I can read TR.

I was kinda surprised at how big Cam looked. Is he 100%? Remember hearing he got hurt before the season started.

I thought the O line looked really good as the game progressed.

The OL dominated the trenches. Yeah they gave up a couple of sacks, but they were blowing open holes in the running game and pass protection was good outside of 2-3 plays. I'll take that all day long over our OL the past two years. I think this group will be dominant as the season progresses.

Film Study

Thanks... that is a very informative study of the run-blocking schemes. Will wait for pass protection discussion, which I suspect will be a subject in practice this week. Again, thanks for good football stuff.

An OP on the Alabama board created this nice compilation of every pass thrown by Coker in the W game ... it is also a good way to review pass protection. Very good video and very good resource for first game. Congratulations and thanks to OP.

I agree, they made noticeable adjustments at half time.

Alabama is perfect in every facet of the game. They are almost as good as A&M.

Left side was supposed to be the strong side, but Cam was somewhat beaten inside and out by small white boy

White boy is probably racist and was using hate to propel himself in the matchup against Cam.

White boys ain't no good at no football not for real unless they racists.

Aint no way no white boy done physically dominated a black boy on his own. Not without help of bitter hatred making him better.

Black men are just tougher and stronger than white boys and it makes you wonder, almost, if Cam was being paid to look like he was being embarrassed by silly white boy.

oline was dominant in run blocking, decent in pass (dont forget, Wisconsin was a top 5 defense last year and returned 8 starters). on both sacks coker held the ball forever, no 320 lb LT can keep a 200lb LB from getting past him for 7 seconds. other than that the QBs were not really pressured. Coker should improve his timing and pocket awareness as he gets reps, and there is no way we get 120 yards of penalties again. i swear that crew had to have been payed off. i really liked seeing us take the penalties and then just score anyways most of the time.

Pump the breaks. We are optimistic, but not ready for those lofty and unrealistic expectations. Compare to something more reasonable, like the 85 bears.
