Like most of us non-student/non-Auburn residents, I haven't been in Auburn for a bit, besides driving through on my way to the beach. So what's new in town. I'll be staying in town for several games this year despite the wifey being prego and due in October(are b-days during the season worse than weddings)
Fill me in current students. BTW, any locals/students in for making some money and marking off tailgate spots?

Live Oaks is a pretty cool spot. New-ish. They had Snake Handler on tap for a bit, that was awesome.
Construction on Opelika by Earth Fare/Mall continues.

Live oaks is nice.. They are getting ready to open a restaurant in the old train station, working on the parking lot yesterday. Probable a month away. Mugshots is the only other new restaurant I can think of. Duvals opened in the old building next to the bowling alley.
Not a student, Toomers looks good. Lots of streets redone, In front of post office, nice medians, mall intersection, college street near interstate.
Marriott courtyard opened near interstate on college.
Med school opened and looks great.
Scoreboard
Old Kmart by mall torn down, Walmart Market taking its place.

I'm assuming this is referring to something besides an actual medical school right?

Nah, no MDs. It is primary care physicians.

P.S. I haven't heard a lot about osteopthic medicine either, but if you believe Wikipedia (and who wouldn't?), in the United States its a valid and respected path to practice medicine.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osteopathic_medicine_in_the_United_States
quote:
In the 21st century, the training of osteopathic medical physicians in the United States is very similar to the training of Doctors of Medicine (M.D.s). Osteopathic medical physicians attend four years of medical school followed by an internship and a minimum two years of residency. They use all conventional methods of diagnosis and treatment. Though still trained in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), the modern derivative of Still's techniques, they work in all specialties of medicine. OMT is a skill they use often in family practice, sports medicine, emergency medicine, but OMT is not commonly used in specialties such as dermatology, surgery, or other fields that do not lend themselves to correcting the body with their hands.

Yes DOs are very respected and aren't bullshite health care professionals at all. And yes DOs can be surgeons too. You would be surprised at how many doctors around are DOs and not MDs.

After completing osteopathic medical school, DOs obtain graduate medical education through internships, residencies and fellowships. DOs specialize in all areas of medicine, ranging from such primary care disciplines as family medicine, general internal medicine and pediatrics to such specialized disciplines as surgery, radiology, oncology and psychiatry.
1[b]. What is the difference between an allopathic and osteopathic medical education? The most obvious difference between allopathic and osteopathic schools is that graduates of allopathic medical schools earn a medical doctor degree – an M.D. – whereas osteopathic graduates earn a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree – a D.O. So, simply looking at the initials next to a doctor’s name will tell you what type of medical school he or she attended.
